In the end the main issue was that there was just too much work for one person to do. For years you will be told "it will get better" but while you're waiting the things you are responsible will increase exponentially. If you report the disparities of the workloads you are often met with excuses that "people work at different speeds" or that work is being done on an invisible level that you don't get to see.
Training consisted mostly of vague example workshops, shadowed customer calls, and attending lots of internal meetings that were above your level of understanding. It's a slow going process to be "brought up to speed" with some taking 4-6 months before being allowed to actually get their own workload.
Pay is very low comparatively to what just about anyone is offering for the same level of work. If you are looking to try out something new you won't notice this but if you are seasoned you better look elsewhere for competitive pay.
