Pros

As SA continues to see substantial growth, I feel it is important to offer a critical review of the companies’ offerings. One must really question the maturity of these 'professionals' who take the time to slander a company online. I worked with SA for around 7 months; hence, will not touch on career progression but rather what to expect for a 'graduate-level' introduction. In a brief digression, these reviews must be written with consideration of the wider recruitment industry. If you are not willing to pull your weight and build on the team's drive, recruitment isn't for you. Granted SA is less overarching when compared to larger Recruitment agencies; however, this is typical of more boutique agencies and comes with a level of expectation rather than coercion from the management. A more mature workplace. Pros: - Ethos. In an industry that is plagued with criticism for being generally careless - thinly veiled by the cries of "we're not all like that" and other clichés - the attitude of fostering lasting relationships is undeniable, with Consultants encouraged to go out and meet contacts/clients regularly, check in on existing placements and generally adhering to best-practise. Beyond the obvious benefits, it is staggering how many contingency recruiters fail at this. - The work/life balance. Unlike many agencies who revere those staying past the typical working day, there is no such expectations and the vast majority leave before 5:45 - 6 pm. - Company image. Working for a Company that is known and genuinely respected within such a niche market makes your life as a consultant far easier when it comes to expanding networks, making introductions and ultimately placements. - Perks. Whilst I could ramble on about all the cool perks such as a barista to make your coffee, pool tables and 'chill-out areas' (don't get me wrong it has all of these). Ultimately the important things are done well. Attractive healthcare package, respectable leave and realistic management who won't have a conniption at the thought of you asking to WFH when it is needed.

Cons

Whilst the training and general onboarding SA offers to new employees is rigorous, I sometimes felt there was an absence of a marketing support when it comes to consultants advertising roles. Greater employee bargaining power, bred from low unemployment means it’s hard to attract top applicants; hence, it would be nice to see more investment towards this moving forward. In lieu of career progression, I will address previous comments by saying SA has recently updated their corporate structure – leading to more defined factors in how one can progress within the company. For obvious reasons, I cannot comment on how well this is enforced.
