Pros

People. Technology. Passion. Literally creating a new mode of transportation. It’s exciting and groundbreaking. And the people. The smartest people you’ll ever work with.

Cons

Leadership is going through some growing pains and they’re under pressure. That is making for some pressure underneath them. The restructuring has been painful and there’s a lot of change and therefore change exhaustion.

Pros

It used to be great, pay is far above anything else local.

Cons

Deadline-driven work with all of the overhead of agile. Daily standup, retros, sprints, etc., but an absolute refusal to seriously plan anything beyond the quarter. But your plans for the quarter had better be accurate or the CTO is going to yell at you. The CTO is ex-Amazon, brought in his own staff, surrounds himself with people that are not involved with implementation, and dictates timelines with zero regard to team capacity. Team feedback on the tasks is no longer permitted. The goals aren't achievable, and there is no mitigation planning. For anyone consider joining: They are holding retirement accounts hostage now to try to fix their retention issues. Last I recall I think it's two years for their 401k contributions to vest. Even with positive intent, you're needing to chain yourself to Torc, but the cynic in me wonders if it's a cost saving measure for the inevitable collapse - will the organization even exist in two years, and if not then I guess your retirement contributions just evaporate.

Pros

Good people, hard working middle management that genuinely know how to run the business, good pay, solid technical performance and IP if management would get out of the way.

Cons

Weak leadership team. Needs to be taken over. Easily fixed with proper leadership. Upper management is asking us to run faster…but they just kneecapped us. They change strategy every month and don’t have experience running companies that are not R and D small businesses. No idea how to make a profit or hold a strategy. Make decisions based on ego and bluster…not talent or logic or efficiency. I’ve never seen a company waste so much money on just flip flopping between decisions.
