Pros

- If you want a public accounting position with a ton of opportunity then Tanner LLC is for you. Tanner's revenue growth since I've been with the Company has been consistently on an upward trajectory so they need more people who are looking for opportunity to help meet their workload. - Management expects a lot from employees, but they really have the best interest of their employees at heart. I, and others, have had health concerns both minor and significant and Tanner has been very accommodating during that time. I couldn't ask for a better employer experience than I had during those rough times. - While reading through some of the other reviews left about Tanner before leaving my own review there was one that I just felt like I needed to respond to even though this isn't a forum or something similar. I know everyone has their own opinion, but a lot of what that individual said either wasn't true or really sounded off to me. I'm referring to the review left on June 20, 2020. I was employed at Tanner for about 4 1/2 years and made it to manager. I think the person that left that comment must not work at Tanner or is a very disillusioned employee as their are several inaccurate comments: 1. Based on Motivosity and the autonomous surveys, Tanner's employee promoter score is higher than industry averages and any other standard tracked by Motivosity. Tanners management team is very proud of this and talks about this a lot internally so I'm not sure how this individual could have gotten that wrong. Tanner does talk about how to make it higher as they would obviously like to keep that number high and above industry averages, but everyone in the industry outside of Tanner that sees it doesn't understand how Tanner can have such a high score so Tanner must be doing something right. 2. Tanner has done anonymous partner surveys and they always come back very positive. Nevertheless, the partners listen to feedback and make changes when possible. I personally have seen several times where people have made suggestions and the partners made changes because of it. 3. Tanner's turnover is very low (much lower than industry average and even lower than most businesses in general). Through my time with Tanner in 2020 (about 1/2 of the year), turnover was about 5%. Personally, I'm surprised that it was so low as I would expect it to be higher just because of the way public accounting is and typical firm experiences within the industry. That alone should prove that there is a problem with the June 20, 2020 review as that comment is clearly not correct. I'm sorry, but as a manager with over 4 1/2 years of experience at Tanner, I take pride in my time at Tanner and the opportunities that I have had while there and I can honestly say that I have been treated very well. In fact, on a couple of occasions, I had significant health issues that just popped up. The partners were very understanding and did everything they could to help with through the difficult times. It is not just me, they treat all of the employees this way. Because of this, I feel the need to defend Tanner and call out the false statements in that review. Tanner is a great firm that cares about its employees and I have seen nothing that makes me think otherwise. If you, the individual that wrote the message on June 20, 2020, truly work at Tanner, I recommend that you talk to any of the partners at Tanner about your concerns as they will listen to you and have you best interests at heart during the conversation.

Cons

- Hours can be pretty long during busy season, but also sometimes outside of busy season. This isn't something you wouldn't expect though if you've worked in the industry. - If you need constant direction then Tanner, and likely public accounting in general, isn't for you. The individuals who really do well are those that are self starters and try to put forth that extra effort.

Pros

Tanner has built an incredible culture Extremely fair with compensation packages Unlimited time off each year Extremely generous 401 K contributions Generous HSA contributions each year Annual health insurance premium increases have been absorbed by the firm for the past few years Great family oriented work environment They create opportunities for work/life balance (Disneyland, summer party, Christmas party) Fun work environment Manager, Directors, and Partners are great friends and mentors I have made a lot of friends at work and we even get together outside normal business hours I have encouraged a number of my colleagues to apply and work at Tanner I don't feel like I am ever micro-managed, but I am coached every time I make a mistake Everyone is working to reach firm-wide goals, and they are not just annual public upper-management statements

Cons

I work a lot of hours, which it to be expected in my industry

Pros

I love working at Tanner! The Company has a good open door policy with managers and partners, meaning you can speak with them anytime about any concerns or needs. The Company really stresses the open door policy and encourages open communication. The work is challenging and rewarding, and the people are great!

Cons

Like any accounting company, the hours can be long, and there is a lot of documentation work. Overall not too bad.

Thank you for your insights regarding the long hours. We have taken big steps the past three months to hire more professionals to lighten the load during this busy season. That said, this is on our ongoing list of things to watch, so we will discuss this with firm management. Please excuse this late response!
