Pros

People working there: friendly Culture and values

Cons

First, the location. The company is located in an industrial estate in Perivale (Greater London) with nothing fancy around. There has been a lot of employee turn over due to a lack of benefits offered by the company and the absence of recognition. The fundamental weakness of Terracycle is the lack of communication between departments and the insufficiency of adaptability. Some teams, like Operations, don't see the big picture and parallel factors. They only focus on their daily tasks without any real understanding of the problems encountered by other teams, and they refuse to see or to admit that things are not going well. The company has grown exponentially and some continue to work as if it were still a start-up of 20 employees...

Pros

Some of the people are great and passionate. Some really talented individuals who genuinely care about the cause.

Cons

Creatively very unfulfilling - all creative decisions made in the US, creative roles in Europe are focussed on artworking and translation. There are a huge number of sub-brands and customers don't really know what Terracycle does. Greenwashing - the focus is less on improving the world than scoring brand partnerships and demonstrating to those brands that we are shouting about their good work on social media. Management - micromanaged, no trust from managers to get the job done every project required hours of meetings which left very little working time. Office location - nothing around Perivale and manager insisted we were in regularly. Job description - day to day job was very different to the advertised job description, became clear quickly I had made a mistake. CEO - the CEO is seen as many colleagues as a demi-god who can't be questioned. There is a huge amount of doings things just to please him or cover yourself. I heard of creatives being let go for disagreeing with the CEO.

Helping the world move the world to a circular economy is at the center of everything we do. While there are no laws requiring brands to have end-of-life solutions for their hard-to-recycle products and packages, we provide a platform enabling brands to do so, along with many other innovative recycling, recycled materials, and reuse solutions. Our incredibly talented global creative director is based in our Perivale office; we’re sorry you didn’t get a chance to work with him, as your experience would have been more positive.

Pros

The sector is interesting and you get exposure to many great companies and stakeholders. The team is great!

Cons

While the sector of recycling hard to recycle waste that I focus on is really interesting, the company has displayed little compassion or willingness to invest in people in 2022 and 2023 - no bonus, little career growth, but more pressure on everyone. Management is very top down and is not collaborative. Ideas from senior management are not sufficiently opened up to debate.
