Company does not care about employees

Pros

easy commute, got to meet a lot of people (good & bad). pay not great but not bad.

Cons

management doesn't care about the safety, or well-being of its employees. way to much butt kissing and favoritism. There is no confidentiality between management and it's employees, and if you associate with the right crowd you can get away with murder!

Pros

Good people work in this building. They bust their tails day in and day out to get the news out in digital and print. Many have a team dynamic and thus the newsroom functions well when we're not micromanaged. Paid time off, floating holidays and sick time are generally never questioned.

Cons

Editorial employees are micromanaged at every turn, and mostly by people who don't have a clue how to actually do their jobs. Rah-rah meetings are often held to try and placate employees in lieu of raises, bonuses and OT. As mentioned above...bonus? What's a bonus? Money in this place doesn't filter past the top tier. No raises in years. Everyone forced to take a pay cut. Most people doing 3 or 4 jobs at once. No room for advancement. Unethical practices taking place here every day. Customers aren't getting papers delivered and digital subscriptions don't work as advertised. We are told to ignore all the complaints.

Pros

It's still a well known brand in the community. You will likely get hired if you apply. Even though people are being laid off, a few more a leaving on their own.

Cons

The company is dying on a vine, and it's all because of poor leadership. The need to make cuts in order to meet a predetermined budget is just part of doing business in corporate America, but when the cuts are made, a reasonable person would say make the cuts based on the needs of the organization and not based on who the department leader likes best or feels less threatened by which has been the case in advertising for the past 10 years. If you're looking for a leader that lacks courage is not liked by the staff and rewards unqualified lackeys to create a department of mistrust, this is the place for you.

Thank you for your review. We acknowledge your concern and while we strive to ensure that all of our employees feel appreciated, we regret falling short. Our sales reps and managers have been doing an exceptional job keeping our business running and your efforts are appreciated. Our business is quickly evolving from print to digital which requires restructuring and readjustment. While our management teams may have changed over the last few years, our commitment to meaningful journalism and being a pillar in the communities we serve has not. Tribune Publishing values all of its employees and aims to deepen relationships with sales partners and bring a much needed voice to our audience. Thank you for your contributions to the company.
