Pros

A good place to hit the ground running and learn to do things quickly and independently, but not enough structure for long-term growth as an employee.

Cons

Management speaking negatively of employees among themselves and to other employees is especially detrimental in a small company. People don't get real constructive critique when friendliness is over-emphasized. Avoid antagonizing employees when they are stressed. Humor and gossip can often be mean and inappropriate; professional boundaries should be respected more. The repeated pattern of showing favoritism to certain hires (and pushing older ones out) is harmful. Rather than having the capacity to invest in the growth of employees, there was a sense of being given up on when you don’t produce desired results quickly.

Pros

-Large variety of clients. -Small team.

Cons

- Partners will often fight and bicker with one another in front of team. - Partners tend to gossip among themselves about employees or clients in a negative and unprofessional manner. - Very little ownability. Despite small team, not uncommon for projects, both large and small, to be passed between 3-7 designers. Team collaboration is also discouraged. - Partners struggle to support new innovative design systems and instead push for work that heavily copies existing visual systems from other agencies and studios. - PTO, company holidays and sick days are not respected. Even if you’re off or incredibly ill, you will most likely work, and it will still be a 12-14 hour day. - Barely any case studies. It’s rare you’ll produce anything that will be documented or photographed.

Pros

- This company is great at mimicking what a great company looks like. - Occasionally fun(ny) environment.

Cons

- Immature, jealous, insecure leadership with egomaniacal tendencies. - Set up like a design sweatshop. Literally. - Claims diversity simply because the owner is Asian, but: - Bullies Asian workers, reinforcing model minority stereotypes. - Wealthy, white-washed leadership obsessed with self-image. - Calculating and deceitful behavior. Openly mocks employees. - Rumor mill, turning employees against each other.
