Tier 11 Response

I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, though I'm disappointed your review lacks the context necessary for prospective employees to make informed decisions about whether Tier 11 is the right fit for them. You mention "no health insurance, no 401k, no paid equipment" as cons, yet these were clearly communicated during your hiring process. As a 47-person agency investing heavily in transformation, we don't currently offer these benefits that larger agencies might - this was transparent from the start. The "constant layoffs" you reference were difficult but necessary business decisions as we restructure to better serve our clients and position the company for future growth. This restructuring is happening across our industry as we all adapt to changing market conditions. Your experience matters to us, but without specific examples of leadership misalignment or other issues, it's challenging to address your concerns meaningfully. If you're willing to provide more details about your experience, please email me directly at joshua@tiereleven.com. I wish you success in your future endeavors. Josh Head of People and Culture

Once a great agency, now on the decline

Pros

• Flexible work environment as long as you meet your goals • Some great people are still there, many of whom I still have relationships with • Flexible time off (again, as long as you're getting work done) • Decent starting point for those getting into digital marketing

Cons

• Company culture has declined steadily since 2022. • Very little room for pay increases over the past year or two. In fact, they've lost some incredibly talented people because they were unable and/or unwilling to compensate employees appropriately. • They talk a big game about vision, but they vision is unclear and hard to grasp onto. This is made worse by the fact that many employees feel uncomfortable brining up their questions or worries with the direction of the agency. • They recently brought in two "big names" the marketing world. Personally, I don't think they had the money to do this and they're hurting more than before. • No benefits whatsoever. They've talked for a couple years now about adding benefits, but it never happened. • Upper-leadership is impulsive and reactionary. Lower-leadership plays along. It actually started to feel like lower-leadership was losing their "pull" in decision making. • Leadership also doesn't recognize ongoing issues and chooses to push past things without actually addressing them. • Over the past 2-3 years, there was a growing sense of insecurity across multiple departments. It was brought up to leadership, but never really addressed. The company has since gone through multiple rounds of layoffs, a large acquisition of another agency, multiple exoduses of top employees, and is now only hiring in Latin America, presumably because they cannot afford US talent.

Thank you for sharing your perspective after your significant tenure with Tier 11. After 5-7 years with us, your insights offer an important viewpoint on our evolution. I appreciate you acknowledging our flexible work environment and the talented people on our team. These remain foundational elements of Tier 11's culture. Regarding your concerns, I want to address them with clarity and conviction. The transformation at Tier 11 since 2022 has been deliberate and necessary. We made the strategic decision to evolve from a "Traffic focused" Meta advertising agency into a comprehensive digital marketing partner through our Conversion Engine method. Data Suite tech, and adoption Marketing Performance Indicators (MPIs) (leveraging metrics that matter)... This transformation wasn't forced upon us—we chose this path because the traditional agency model is broken. Change is inherently messy and transformational periods are always challenging. The team members who have embraced this journey with a "seek to understand" mindset have recognized the value of these changes and can now see the strategic vision taking shape. In recent months, we're beginning to see the fruits of this transformation, The issues you've mentioned—compensation limitations, lack of benefits, international hiring—stem from necessary business investments at this stage of our growth. Standing up a client success department, bringing in specialized talent, and making strategic acquisitions require significant resources that support the achievement of our teams vision. These investments are critical for our future but have temporarily limited our ability to expand in other areas. What you reference as "trying to solve problems that were never actually problems" mischaracterizes our approach. We deliberately charted a new course that requires elevated effort and sacrifice in service of our long-term vision. Returning to "what made Tier 11 special years ago" isn't viable in today's evolving industry landscape—what got us here won't get us where we need to go. While our strategic decisions are proving effective, we acknowledge there have been tactical mistakes and learnings along the way. No company undergoing complete transformation avoids these growing pains. What has remained consistent throughout is our commitment to transforming the industry, our strong leadership, and the core values that guide our decisions. I appreciate your contributions during your time with us and wish you continued success.
