Working for time out is like being married to a man who cheats.

Pros

"He" is very charming (great "brand"). All of your friends get jealous of you when you say you his name: OMG that's so cool, you're so lucky. Little do they know how it's all a lie. There are a LOT of great people there, very kind and very empathetic. The few that stay for long is because they believe in the good of everything which allows them to be completely explored. Others stay for guilt of not wanting to hurt nice colleagues. Everyone else leaves as soon as they get the chance. (Except those who come from TripAdvisor and stay there because they are making a LOT of money). You can also get early career opportunities because your manager suddenly quits and you are the only one who kind of knows what to do. But if you are not ready (because your manager didn't teach you enough) you'll be pressured and bullied.

Cons

"He" does not value you at all. "He" says he wants to be better but then never does anything about it. Has no focus and keeps fooling around. No sense of priorities, but always comes with massive plans that are going to fix *everything* when all he needed was to pay attention to what "he" already already has. "He " is becoming a sad old man going nowhere and you should leave him as soon as possible. The CEO is also an incompetent, arrogant and insecure man who drives his assistants to madness - If you look at them you'll see how much they hate them - and that says a LOT about who a person is. Almost zero free events/ tickets/ benefits for employees, low attendance to after work drinks because everyone just wants to run away from that place.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you are not feeling valued as an employee or treated well – we are taking these matters very seriously and if you haven’t done so yet, we strongly advise that you are talking with your line manager or a member of the HR team about this further. Also, if you have ideas you would like to share directly it would be great if you could catch up with your manager and / or discuss them within your team. We are a bit surprised to read in your comment that you think that there are almost no free events / tickets etc. for employees and that hardly anyone attends after-work drinks – we feel that neither of these reflect the reality as we often make events, tickets, perks etc. available and invite mixologists to serve up drinks at our bar for employees with many attending (such perks are often suggestions and initiatives by our social committee which is run by employees).

Headless chicken of a company

Pros

Most of the staff are good people with excellent & diverse backgrounds looking to work hard to make a successful company under the right kind of leadership.

Cons

Special mention should go to the CEO who is an arrogant, self-serving man who doesn't have the first idea about how to be a leader of people and yet feels entitled to the vast salary and bonuses he pays himself. The rest of the senior management, though more pleasant, do not have the first idea of either what the company should be or how to stop it haemorrhaging money and staff. A constant series of endeavours are launched with great pomp regardless of however unlikely they are to succeed, the whole strategy of the company is turned to suit and then, predictably when it turns out not to have been in the least bit successful everyone has to change tack again and try to be positive about something new. It is becoming a very depressing place to work.

Worst management in the world, starting with CEO

Pros

None anymore. Did have a great culture pre-current CEO and management.

Cons

CEO and MD's are self serving bullies. Absolutely ripped the company apart. No one actually has a clue what they are doing. Turnover is laughable. Loving the fake positive reviews Time Out management is frantically attempting to post lately to reverse the insanely high negative reviews. Not surprising the share price has nearly halved. How the hell has the CEO managed to keep his job?

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We are of course aware that there has been change, but it is the kind of change that is required to transform and successfully diversify this business to drive growth on our journey to profitability. Despite the change and hard work, it is an exciting time for our business and we are proud that we have achieved a lot within a very competitive and ever-changing industry – we know we owe this to our very passionate, dedicated team; we are sorry that you didn’t feel this was the right place for you. We also want to take this opportunity to address the last comment you made in the above ‘advice to management’ – we are a public company and as such, you can consult our publicly available Annual Reports which provide transparency around business numbers. There was also a presentation to all staff to take everyone through the numbers the business reported, the performance, strategy and focus.
