      Good Job for Starting out in Hospitality

      Pros

      Its an independent cafe that is run by a local family. The environment was always supportive and there were opportunities to built rapport with the locals. It's a great job if you want to go into the hospitality sector.

      Cons

      At times the company could be poorly managed but I think that was mostly due to low resources. Apart from that it is a great cafe to work for.

      Pros

      the regulars are amazing, and the money is good.

      Cons

      Place is falling apart, but they just make you deal with it. I’m talking leaking ceilings, no staff bathroom, it’s just all old and needs updating so badly. They don’t have a separate dishwasher for bar glasses. Owner has lost touch with what it’s about, they’re super greedy. Will sell cod for crazy priced and call it the catch of the day, it’s just embarrassing. They’ve got an elderly couple that has been working for them 18+ years, still bussing for $2.13 an hour plus tips. And they work them so hard, never invested in them. They didn’t even teach them English or show them any support to grow as individuals within the They also promised incentives for bringing new staff, but never ever payed out.
