Pros

+Design leadership and culture in the office is strong. +Project portfolio is diver and work opportunity are available in multiple sectors. +Architects care deeply about the quality of their documents and the craft of their built work. +Mentorship opportunities are good. +Quality control procedures are robust.

Cons

-Office culture is corporate to a fault. Management has a mentality that would be better suited to the east coast than the mountain west. -Management considers all architectural staff, including unlicensed interns, to be professionally exempt under section 13 of FLSA. As such, no overtime pay is provided, despite employees the fact that employees are regularly expected to work over 40 hours per week. -Turnover is extremely high due to employee burnout. -CEO has an unfortunate tendency to pick a few favorite employees, and promote them at rates that are disproportionate to more senior staff members who have been quietly contributing quality work to the firm for many years.

Traditional Firm with Poor Leadership

Pros

Relatively high design standards for Denver, good salary, beautiful garden to enjoy your lunch in (if you have time).

Cons

Many words are expressed by staff at all levels at this firm. However, anything of substance is rarely said. Communication is non-existent across the board, whether it's between upper management, with PM's, PA's or Job Captains. This includes anything from design changes, meeting updates, project updates, to deadline changes. The firm seems to be transparent with their financial well-being, by showing staff at all levels numbers and stats, profits and hours. However, their financial projections and backlog seem to be based more on hope rather than actual signed contracts. This is also a firm that felt the need to lay off 10-15 of their roughly 50 staff while accepting small business loans during COVID-19, where the main purpose of the loan was to help small firms KEEP their employees. Also, your employment here is much more guaranteed if you're a shameless sycophant. It can even get you promoted from having no title to Senior Associate in a year.

Cons

Very strict office policies , no break room get used to eat at your desk. No BIM protocols you will be drafting more than you need. No opportunity to grow or develop yourself.
