Don't be fooled by the flashy new office and HR's incessant advertising of "we're hiring," there are major red flags here. The new office was supposed to support job stimulus, and they did hire a bunch of people going into 2018, but it took less than three months into the year before people were being fired left and right. Another three months and they are laying people off, without even giving them the opportunity to make a lateral move in the company, or a heads up so that they could try to find something else before being totally screwed out of their livelihood, benefits, and insurance coverage. The core values awards are just flashy gestures to bolster the company reputation and lure people into a false sense of security. Quarterly goals are written and rewritten at least 5 times before anything is even approved, and upper management has no idea what day-to-day operations look like for most teams, because they're rarely in the office. The founders cracked the whip for a ton of advancement and growth on the sites, started asking questions about each team's ties to revenue for the business, all while the office is constantly being toured by investor types. Wouldn't be surprised if they were about to sell the business and leave all their employees in the lurch. The bottom line is this: the founders are arrogant jerks (with no formal education in business, and no real management training, who have never worked anywhere else or for anyone else) with majorly inflated egos, and they don't care about the people working for them, they care about their money. Unless you've been with the company for six or more years, don't get comfortable. Your position could be eliminated at a moments notice because you don't matter to them, you are disposable.
