    Pros

    Good money, good work colleagues

    Cons

Ran by inadequate people. If you’re good at your job, they will put more and more on you. If you aren’t so good, you will be better off

    Advice to Management

I have been working at UPS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Promotion from within
A company with a mission - the service itself is great

    Cons

A very old school way of thinking. People often have +20 years old seniority - they breath UPS and talk about UPS all the time. Sometimes it feels like living in a sect because people can't imagine there is anything else in the world apart from UPS. There are not many young people.
The staff lacks training and the job gets mundane very quickly. Promotion from within is available, but only if you are lucky. Not much room for progression within HR. You can only see how bad it is when you leave and compare to other companies.

    Advice to Management

    bring young people in
invest in training and in better offices

I have been working at UPS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

As a package car driver, the money is great once you get to 16 months. Not many firms will pay this as an hourly rate.
Plenty of overtime available inc Saturdays.
    Driver training is available

    Cons

Most of the buildings UPS own don’t have modern up to date washing facilities. No showers and/or drying rooms. Cycling to work is not really supported.
The management WILL BULLY YOU to stay out and deliver. They have no compassion for anything outside of the business.
A Family and a home life do not exist when working as a package car driver, unless you stick to your guns. The 9 1/2 hour forms are magical. Ask your shop steward for one.
Progression to more senior positions will never happen. They will promise you everything, but the reality is it’s not going to happen. They’d rather move someone from another centre to backfill then give someone the opportunity.
The UPS rule book will only apply when you’ve done something wrong (even a mistake) the management don’t follow it unless challenged.
The company is still very much in the dark ages. Still doing everything by paper, old technology and no lateral thinking.
They will hound you via your OWN personal mobile phone (which they won’t pay for or provide one to you) whilst working, even when on the No Call List.
Drivers are not incentivised, it’s always take take take and no thanks.
Daily routes will be closed down and the workload will be put on to other drivers just so they hit targets, putting drivers at high risk.
    No discipline

    Advice to Management

A happy workforce will work harder and go the extra mile. Stop taking advantage of people’s good nature and be more realistic.
    Incentivise your staff more
    Invest in your staff
Supervise your staff and lead by example.

I have been working at UPS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Quite flexible working hours / working from home
    Good brand
    Good career prospects

    Cons

Upper management change - ridiculous targets that are unachievable
If you’re unlucky with a bad territory you won’t earn any commission which is out of your control
So much red tape. Can’t influence any changes. No one listens to ideas.
Completely process driven - ridiculously long winded processes in place.
    Service is getting worse.
    Lack of support form manager
Departments work against each other rather than with

    Advice to Management

Give people a bit more autonomy, have trust in their decisions for their territory.
Listen to suggestions and make changes.
Change processes - way too long winded

I have been working at UPS part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Well paid for what is a low skill Job. Mostly a good group of people.

    Cons

Management fail repeatedly to enforce rules. Whether UPS rules or rules of employment set out in UK Law. To such an extent no, that they can no longer enforce said rules even if they now started to. As it would just be a case of someone pointing out the countless examples of people previously not being subject to such rules. They need to wipe the slate clean as regards to peoples records and start again. PROPERLY. Enforce the rules and make people accountable for their own actions. we have people being physical and verbally threatened with little to no action being taken. and this has been happening on multiple occasions with the same people. Despite their own rules dictating that multiple people should have been asked to leave, nothing of significance has happened. It is ruining lots of employees working life.

    Advice to Management

The rules are there for a reason. For the employers protection and the protection of the employees. Use them and stick to them. Being a man down for a few weeks or maybe longer is a price we should be willing to take in order to keep a safe working environment.

    Pros

Excellent pay, supervisors, management, given credit for a job well done.

    Cons

Staff phoning in sick specially Friday, staff turning up late, staff who moan (the world's against me attitude)

    Advice to Management

Wouldn't advise management they've got where they have by hard work and job knowledge
