Pros

down time between rushes to do homework, friendly coworkers, independent, customers are generally very nice, executive team extremely humble and approachable, free court time and group activities, flexible hours

Cons

a non-existent hr department, no back office support, lack of chain of command which resulted in you getting assigned tasks from 2 different managers that usually conflicted each other, and finally the rushes were often not manageable by one person- would be nice for management to come assist for 5 minutes on the hour to help get everyone checked in as you got in trouble if anyone slipped past you, no full time available which means no benefits, and did not allow breaks

Pros

The USTA provides constant learning experiences. Interns/new employees aren't given BS work; we are given tasks that are relevant to what the rest of the department is working on, but on a smaller scale. The family atmosphere at USTA is strong. Everyone wants to help each other and managers make work fun. We get the job done while enjoying ourselves. Gordon Smith is also very down-to-earth and very present around all staff.

Cons

No cons for me at the USTA.

Pros

I really like the people and the work is great. Some days the hours go long, but we are a mission-based organization, so I appreciate where we are going directionally. My manager, the HR team and the CEO are very good.

Cons

Long hours, and not everyone gets to enjoy the perks (like the US OPEN).

Pros

We have a group of very responsible and active people that work at the USTA NorCal section. We all enjoy working with one another day in and out, everyone is willing to jump in and help when ever needed in the Adult Leagues team. Some of us work there because we are almost retired and just simply enjoy doing what we're doing not because we have to work. We want to work. It's nice to be able to work from home as I feel I get more done WFH.

Cons

The super micro management is getting very tiring for us all. We are all very responsible people and are always busy trying to make our leagues run the best possible, we rarely have any down time. It is very hard to make the leagues run better when our ideas to make the leagues better often gets shot down by her. And, the management is asking us to work during holiday (Christmas time) and not clock in. And we all did. She also asked us to clock out every four hours when we're running tournaments that are impossible to clock out and take a break every 4 hours. We clock out at the 4 hour mark and continue to work because we can't stop running the tournaments and take a break.

Pros

The faculty was wonderful and departments worked hand-in-hand together very well. Everyone was willing to help out anyone no matter which team they were part of. Such a great environment for tennis fans and players.

Cons

The only con I can think of is not having any healthy snack options in the kitchen at the National Campus. I haven’t been there in a couple of years but hopefully they have fruit or something better thank snack bars.
