Pros

I don’t have anything nice to say!

Cons

This company treats its employees like crap! They could not care less about you. To them your just a number. Pay raises are far and few between and when they are promised they find a way to screw up your paycheck! Managements is an absolute joke!

Pros

The only good thing is that the medical benefits are very good. They are only there because the employees voted a union in and have Steelworkers benefits. The company had nothing to do with it. As a matter of fact, the salary employees were allowed on the medical as a showing of good faith.

Cons

This company, or at least the North Jackson plant, is a sinking ship. The management is terrible for the most part. They don’t care about the employees at all. All they are concerned about is having the machinery run and disciplining employees. There are many cameras all over and they are not used for “safety” like they said. They are used to manage and discipline. That’s it. As a matter of fact they are in the process of adding dozens more right now. The management sticks it’s finger into every aspect of the plant, but has little to no knowledge when it comes to the day to day work. They manage by intimidation and no one in the “middle management “ will dare disagree no matter how idiotic the ideas are. Nothing is repaired correctly because they just want to keep everything running, therefore most repairs are “band-aided”. Actually most thing can’t be repaired correctly because there are never the correct parts anyway. Either they were ordered incorrectly or they aren’t ordered at all. Just make it work with wrong parts. There is almost no ventilation in the Forge building and there is a cloud of metal dust constantly lingering in the air. Everything is covered in this dust including the lungs of all affected employees. This has been brought up multiple times, but nothing has been done. The pay is terrible for the amount of work required. In maintenance, they basically want master electricians, mechanics, and welders all rolled into one, but pay only around $20 per hour. I would not recommend this job to my worst enemy.

Thank you for taking the time to submit a response. We’re sorry to hear that you had issues during your employment and would have appreciated the opportunity better understand, and to make positive changes. We do care about our employees and take complaints seriously. We maintain a surveillance system in our plant to secure and monitor activities, and we are adding new cameras to the system at this time. Concerning Maintenance Repairs, we have a warehouse full of parts inventory and spend over $2.9M annually in maintenance. The ventilation in the Forge building has been tested. SE Technologies was hired to conduct an industrial hygiene study for employee exposure. A Certified Industrial Hygienist conducted personal air sampling for many positions including the Forge Operator, Hot Saw Operator, and Glama Operator. The results were well below regulatory exposure limits. In addition, Government Regulatory Agencies have also conducted personal air sampling at the site and agree the results were below all regulatory exposure limits. Lastly, with regards to the pay, Maintenance employees have the opportunity to earn up to $26.11 per hour by increasing skills and may test at any time to increase to the next level. We believe that USAP and our NJX plant are a great place to work, and encourage our employees to talk to their supervisor, HR, and/or safety at any time about concerns they may have. We wish you the best in your next opportunity.

Management is terrible. Looks like management has been on here putting up 5 star reviews to offset all the true reviews!! Read all the older reviews then make your decision before applying here! Schedule changes are constant! Trying to have a normal life is impossible!
