Toxic / Micromanaging Owner - Horrible Employment Experience

Pros

100 % remote working environment

Cons

Potential employees beware. My time with the company was a very toxic experience and I believe it is crucial to provide an honest account of the working conditions.

 - The owner excelled at public humiliation; publicly shaming you in front of all your peers for not meeting his unrealistic standards. These instances created a highly stressful and demoralizing work atmosphere. - The owner of this company has also displayed very inappropriate behaviour when connecting with staff outside of working hours which includes numerous video calls on the weekends at odd hours to your personal cell phone number. These occurrences were not isolated incidents but rather recurring patterns. - All employees STRONGLY discouraged to take any time off which severely impacted the team’s mental health. - Another concerning practice at VTRAC is the requirement for employees to set themselves up as incorporated entities, essentially waiving their rights as employees under the Employment Standards Act. This arrangement allows the owner to terminate employment without ramifications and places the burden of risk entirely on the employees. (Something for all future employees to be very aware of, as I unfortunately was not educated on this) - VTRAC does not provide health/medical benefits to employees unless they pay for them independently, and there is a lack of essential equipment such as laptops, cell phones, and other tools necessary for work - 5:00PM meetings every Friday to micromanage all remote employees, often assigning new tasks to everyones workload with the expectation employees work over the weekends - Owner was very bad tempered, often making decisions with snap judgement I encourage everyone (both potential clients and employees) to carefully consider all the aspects of this company before making any contractual decisions and to be aware of the laundry list of challenges that await you.

Pros

The employees are really nice people. The office is in a pretty good location and easy to get to. Subway access is great, Sheppard station is 5 minutes and the 401 is 5 minutes away. Parking is excellent.

Cons

Poor management. There is no work life balance. The management insists on trying to micromanage every part of your life, this includes private. They look for ways to not pay bonuses. If they actually practiced what they say they do, it would be a good company.

Thank you for your feedback. We believe that all of our team members have been treated fairly, with respect, professionally, personally and financially. There is no management team member at the company who enjoys practicing any micro-management style, with the exception of when they have been forced by a team member who has been extensively trained by the team, but could not constantly provide simple reporting, following general tasks and directions and achieving hers/his pre-established targets. VTRAC is an organized and a process-oriented company. Our team members are serious about their job, environment and deliverables. In regards to work-life balance, VTRAC's standard weekly working hours is 40 hours a week, and administration time is less than 10%. There are several over achievers in the team who work harder to achieve their personal and financial goals. Flexibility and availability in responding to clients and team members is crucial in the industry, hence why VTRAC offers extensive time management training. The comment made about the bonuses is absolutely untrue. All members are receiving their production records to the penny on a monthly basis and receive their incentives accordingly. In fact, in the last 15 years, in 95%+ of cases, team members have been receiving their bonuses before the company got paid by the clients.

WORST COMPANY TO WORK FOR

Pros

You get a paid- AND its not good pay

Cons

This is probably THE worse company I have ever worked for.- staffing or non staffing. The CEO and a few of their staff who have been there for many years have ZERO respect for women. They promote "women in tech" but do NOT let that fool you- they will talk down to you if you are a female. I have been belittled in front of my co workers and my judgement questioned. I have also never worked for an organization that suggests you to take a course to "improve" your skills BUT refuse to pay for it. They are not busy enough to have the amount of recruiters they have on the team- they distribute job orders and expect you to work on one role until you fill it. Please reach out to the former employees on Linkedin before you decide to join this firm- former employees don't lie.

While your feedback is appreciated, as a majority woman owned, women employed company, and a diversity supplier, we believe your feelings about VTRAC may be misguided and totally unfair. VTRAC has internally promoted 4 women in the past year alone and has helped over 1000 women with their career transition and employment. VTRAC's training program is highly extensive but has a very high successs rate with those who follow it closely. We are sorry you found our detailed process and method to be micromanaging, in fact our process has been designed and enhanced constantly by our team’s feedback over the years. Many who use them to their full potential call it the key to success. We have extensive PAID training programs conducted by internal team and external consultants, such as Recruitment, Search Optimization, IT, Agile, DevOps, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Time Management and Desk Management, however some courses my be suggested by leadership to those who would like to learn more on their own. These courses are in no way mandatory, and should you choose to sign up and participate, only your own personal success will flourish, which is why we suggest these external programs. With respect to the job order/recruiter ratio, VTRAC has never claimed to be an extreme volume processing shop, instead we are a quality focused one, working on fillable jobs with very close relationships with our clients. many of which span between 15 to 20 years. That’s why some of the most innovative and successful organizations in North America are using VTRAC’s services to build their dream teams. Regarding job order distribution, in some companies there is competition between peers over the jobs. At VTRAC, our team members are concentrating on certain roles to maintain focus and provide quality in delivery, however all team members can present candidates to all open positions.
