Pros

Seems like a great opportunity at a rapidly growing biotech company.

Cons

Pay is 30% less than the mean salary for the same position at other companies, 40% less than the position in biotech. Meetings frustratingly unproductive because management has not invested in professional development and has little to no prior experience outside of academia. Management never aligned and spends most meetings arguing about next steps or, worse yet, trying to one-up each other on knowledge about topics unrelated to the conversation at hand. Performance reviews non-existent and, if feedback is provided, it is consistently to just "work harder" and "earn us more money." Diversity present, but "inclusion" and "equity" treated like profanities. A senior colleague once communicated that staff should not have children because it would affect performance. People who have left or whose employment has been terminated are consistently women and people of color. When these issues were brought up to management, they explicitly said addressing issues related to equity and inclusion would take attention away from increasing revenue. Highly competitive sales environment. Management calls out sales team members for not meeting aggressive monthly sales goals during group calls. Favoritism clearly on display for high earners, which is based more on geography than performance. Culture of disrespect. Top earners are blatantly rude to their supervisors, bully colleagues, and shirk responsibilities without accountability. This is true at every level of the company. Micro-management is also an issue—a senior staff member said, "I micro-manage everyone. because I have to"

Pros

Health insurance is decent and that is about it.

Cons

If you're considering working here, think twice. I wish I had seen this comment when I was applying for jobs. This company prioritizes profit over people and fosters a toxic work culture with little to no work-life balance unless you’re fortunate enough to work remotely. While many employees enjoy remote flexibility, the COO insists on pushing in-office work—not for productivity, but simply because he wants to see people at their desks. The pay is far below industry standards, yet the workload and expectations are overwhelming. Job security is nonexistent, with employees being let go for minor reasons, creating a constant atmosphere of fear and instability. HR is completely unhelpful—they discourage employees from voicing concerns and make it clear that there is no room for flexibility unless you happen to be one of the few receiving special treatment. They also micromanage you like crazy. They will give you examples of companies with absurdly worse policies to justify their lack of policies where the employee would have some sort of benefit. On top of that, CEO Bruce has a history of extremely controversial views (just do a quick Google search on his research regarding brain sizes). This alone should raise major red flags. The PTO policy is you accrue 1 day of PTO after every worked month. So basically you need to work to deserve PTO plus this way they don't have to pay you a bunch of PTO days when you leave or when they fire you. Most people who remain at this company do so out of necessity, not choice—if the job market were better, you’d see mass resignations. The workplace environment is draining, demoralizing, and completely out of touch with modern work culture. Do yourself a favor: Stay away. There is no support, no fairness, and no real reason to put yourself through this. The vibes are always off, and no amount of money could make up for the stress of working here.
