Great tech, not so great leadership

Pros

Some of the best people I've ever worked with. Engineers especially. Walk the walk, talk the talk. What some of the head engineers asked us to do was crazy, but what we achieved through teamwork was incredible. You were willing to do it because you knew your manager had often done it themselves. Pay was good whilst I worked there, but then the demands were high. Incredible machine. Great (immediate) colleagues. Was great to work on something so unique despite the deep structural issues in the business.

Cons

Leadership. Sell sell sell. Too Focussed on revenue or appearance of revenue not actual long term growth. Turned out it was all smoke and mirrors. Classic case of taking money out of the company. Senior mgmt has waltzed off with a ridiculous golden goodbye despite grotesque failings to lead another company with nary a care in the world.

Pros

Conceptually a great step forward using technology that is mostly outdated. Possibilities are there, but the proper people to make it happen are not.

Cons

Upper management essentially were unsuccessful at another radiation therapy company. They have now been brought aboard at Viewray, and are applying the same systemic problematic strategies. 1. The R & D, QA/RA and FSE teams are very strong, and essentially are what keep Viewray going. Other departments (i.e. NPI, MFG and OPS) demonstrate limited medical device experience and/or relevant technology knowledge. 2. All decisions are reactionary in nature and implemented through brute force and/or intimidation. 3. Current systems in used require full-time on-site FSE teams.
