Pros

Benefits. Gym membership discount. Gym on site and nap rooms. Chances to volunteer in the community. Fun events for holidays

Cons

When I first started I thought WSECU was great! After about 6 months I realized it wasn't anything I expected. The department I particularly worked in (MSD) is extremely corrupted! Favoritism runs rampant. Managers pick on leads and specialist, I saw my lead be undermined in front of other employees by management and other employees. Their is no respect. Also, the department is full of gossip and rumor starters. WSECU presents a "we all in" attitude but it is far from that. Myself and others have gone to HR with zero results.

Best job I've had!

Pros

They have EXCELLENT benefits and contribute to your 401k which is amazing. I also accrue leave at a pace that has taken me a year+ at other companies to reach. despite other reviews I have read, they really DO promote within. I started at an entry level role with no prior financial institution. I have now obtained a position in Leadership.

Cons

I don't have any real complaints or dislikes. I will say it is not inaccurate to say the pay may be a little lower than some other companies for certain positions. If you compare the pay to other places though, I would recommend comparing the benefits packages, leave time, and 401k contributions.

Pros

The 401k match of 8.5% of your salary WITHOUT YOU CONTRIBUTING ANYTHING is pretty impressive. I contribute, but WSECU contributes more than I do. I'm grateful for this because it is bar none the best credit union benefits package I've ever had. Health insurance is fabulous. It covers me and my partner and they have a variety of options including free (no premium for you and your spouse) 80% Premera Blue Shield or you can pay for some fancier options including 90% at Grouphealth. The sales goals aren't unrealistic like other local credit unions I've worked for. Not only can you achieve your goals, but goals are set to empower and excite the team into overachieving and handing out gift cards galore for all your hard work and team work. I'm pleased with WSECU as an employer. Pay is truly a blessing here. It's the only credit union that pays a living wage in the Seattle metropolitan area. While it still doesn't feel like enough, it's generous for doing a position that will soon be completely automated (loan processing).

Cons

WSECU is very focused on its hometown: Olympia. The management is aging and needs to be replaced with young and excited employees. Many of the senior management are original or near originals of WSECU and it is time for WSECU to move into the new millenium. It feels like a struggle if you're searching for advancement. WSECU doesn't offer any education to its employees to help them reach their career goals, so internal applicants typically are dismissed as unqualified for advanced positions.
