Pros

Flights reimbursed after finishing a work contract with the company, 50% in first salary and 50% in last salary. If you are new to Japan this is a good place to get a feel of the country but in terms of teaching it is extremely Mickey Mouse and with very limited flexibility (you stick to the lesson plans that were made 10 - 15 years ago by the head of teaching) and you can't deviate / personalise your lessons. Apartment comes with the employment offer. Two locations available (mainly in Tokyo but Nagoya available too) Starting salary is around 285,000 YEN basic which is quite high.

Cons

Rent is high for what you get 3 x 12 meter apartment costs around 90,000 YEN / Month. Contracts are only for 3 months at a time and very very very rarely there will be an opening for the Full Time job like I did, teachers stay in this post. No career opportunities or progression. Cannot speak to faculty staff and are located in a foreign teachers room way off in the corner of the campus. No sick days allowed - extremely strict. No holidays other than the scheduled holidays. Re-contracting teachers get 5,000 yen / month raise. Meat grinder for teachers, only some teachers stay on due to the 3 month contracts. Interview process does not vet teachers out enough and have seen some shocking behaviour from foreign staff at work and outside. Company only interested in selling their version of English curriculum to universities and elementary schools, teachers are expendable and can easily be replaced.

Pros

Excellent positive attitude and always looking to develop new teaching and learning initiatives. Well-resourced and modern facilities.

Cons

Lack of support from senior leadership at times, which can lead to staff feeling disempowered if you're not a proactive individual.
