Won't Be Around In 2 Years

Pros

WhatCounts is very flexible with work from home policy. This allows team members to go into an office in Durham, Seattle, or Atlanta if they want, or work full time remote. Team uses modern systems like Slack for internal communication which is great, and office culture is casual and relaxed. Some roles have decent commission plans & bonus payouts, which while they aren't huge, can be a nice supplement to income.

Cons

The pay range for most roles is on average 10k less than what other companies offer. Post acquisition + merger, OSG claimed salaries would be reviewed. This never happened between 2018-2019. This leads to the team being complacent and unmotivated. The quality of the product is very poor, and the software issues plague clients. The technical team often brushes off major issues and client complaints and does little to solve the issue / appease the client. OSG, the parent company, is trying to force more partnerships amongst all of their organizations. This led to us being incentivized to try and sell services to clients that were not fully fleshed out or strategized, causing more pain for clients. The last main issue was the lack of courtesy and respect amongst many teams. It wasn't at all surprising to have executive level management berate employees. Developers out of the Atlanta office were notorious for being "difficult" to work with and would take to sarcasm and public humiliation if you asked them about projects. In general, it was the most toxic workplace environment. Career opportunities were never addressed in any internal strategies with my manager. The stability of the company is terrible. I truly would be shocked if WhatCounts still existed in 2 years.
