Pros

Witricity was an awesome company. They were a cutting edge technology company striving to break into the wireless charging industry. There were many talented, dedicated, hard-working, driven people who all saw the impact the company was making in the world of electric vehicles.

Cons

6 months ago there was a change in CEO to Joe Benz, and a corresponding erosion to company philosophy and company culture. There was no communication and no direction from the new CEO. All these talented, hard-working employees were working towards meeting their project goals. Last week approximately thirty employees went to work like any other day, to be told they were laid off. No notice was given to these hard-working, dedicated, instrumental people who had been with the company for numerous years. There was nothing professional about the abrupt termination of these employees, or consideration given to their financial well-being.

Pros

Working here gave me the opportunity to work with some of the smarts engineers in the industry. The technology is amazing and the opportunity to learn and grow as an engineer is fantastic. The work is hard, but everyone is dedicated to the common goal and in devoted to grow the business.

Cons

In May of 2024, Joe Benz took over as CEO of the company. Since he started he has been an absolute failure of a leader. His first move as CEO was to hire his own daughter as his executive assistant (who is also known as Miss Rodeo Arkansas 2023). His daughter is inempt and vastly underqualified for the position and she was given a higher salary than most of the engineers. The pure nepotism is disgusting and vile and made all of the employees lose trust in Joe's leadership immediately. He has since made countless promises to the employees with no follow through and has given no direction. Working under Joe has been a complete disappointment. He keeps all of his decisions secret to everyone other than his small group of lackies which he had brought in himself, to the point where even the VPs had no idea what the direction of the company is which led to confusion to everyone downstream. The goals of the company seemed to shift week to week and priorites were inconsistent which led to frustration felt by everyone working on the products. Recently Joe has decided to lay off the majority of the engineering staff wiping out a vast majority of the knowledge of the products with it. Those that remain are left to pick up the pieces of the ruins left behind by inept leadership. This was once a great company filled with inspiring people and a collective goal, but now is in shambles due to the actions of one man. By the way, the executive assistant was exempt from the layoffs...

Pros

WiTricity has been pioneering wireless charging technology since 2007. Though there has been ebb and flows, working at WiTricity was incredibly meaningful, pushing a technology that will be necessary to autonomize vehicles and dynamic devices and I am convinced one day will be commonplace. Additionally, WiTricity's team was comprised of some truly amazing professionals solving a complex challenge with blank slates.

Cons

Over the last 6 months, a new CEO has entered the scene. With very marginal experience, primarily as a Lawyer and an Army man, he decided that the future of the company would mold to his personal preferences. He laid-off most of the company, domestically and abroad, with them leaving most of the knowledge that made WiTricity great. In the process, he hired some of his friends and daughter, with limited to no civilian experience, much less running technology companies. I do not know how the company will move forward from this.
