Pros

Woodland is small, growing company with a family-like atmosphere. People are friendly and courteous. Management is open with planning and financials during a weekly meeting.

Cons

Woodland is a company that wants to grow, but flounders terribly due to inexperience. Upper management is lacking the skills and experience needed to grow the company. It is an online company with many analog processes. From shipping to sales, management would rather hire someone than look into a functioning website. Woodland is also extremely religious in Christian views. Anyone who believes otherwise is going to be very counter-culture and might even be pressured by other employees. There is pressure from Upper Management as well. The President, Andrew Ingram, ends every meeting with prayer, as do other members of Management. Many employees are fine with this practice, but it is worth noting that the religious culture is extremely strong. Finally, Woodland Direct promotes poorly due to the small, religious atmosphere. Promotions and leadership roles are based friendship and connections within the church despite merit, education, and work history (or lack thereof). This leads to many employees feeling like there are things they cannot bring up or say to Management unless they are in the "IN" group. It also leads to a lot of gossip being spread.

Pros

- Great Work/Life Balance - Friendly atmosphere - Low-stress environment

Cons

- Constant conversations about politics and religion. These conversations would be more suitable for home or church. Not everyone shares the same beliefs on these matters and that should be respected. - Incessant work gossip partially driven from the very opaque and secretive management style. This could easily be reduced by being transparent about business and personnel decisions. - Unprofessional handling of employee firings and resignations. Be transparent when possible. Be silent otherwise. Cryptic emails and announcements only serve to perpetuate gossip and divisions. - Lack of business experience in management leads to some very poor decisions. - No advancement or career opportunities.
