Used to be a great workplace...

Pros

World Learning used to have a great workplace environment, and if it addresses employee concerns seriously, could return to being a good environment one day. I have learned much from my time at World Learning and I am very grateful for this, and I see great value in its programs. I have had the opportunity to work alongside many committed and talented colleagues.

Cons

The poor workplace environment stems largely from the change of CEO and human resources in DC, and the re-structuring of the organization. HR is ineffective at best and has strongly contributed to poor workplace morale and employee turnover. This is noticed and felt most strongly by the Program Associates, creating a very poor workplace environment.

Great mission, terrible structure and pay

Pros

The mission of the organization is fantastic and they have some really cool programs. Work can also be really rewarding

Cons

Pay is anemic, at best. Entry-level staff make $42,000, in one of the most expensive places to live. Organization is also really dysfunctional. No transparency with promotions or hiring. I was passed over for a promotion, with the reason being "another employee has been here longer and if you were promoted first it would make them feel bad".
