Pros

Management is helpful and very communicative. Training is good but not enough CPE credit classes if you’re CPA

Cons

Culture is a little odd - you may feel out of place if you’re in your 30s or younger.. YPTC seems to attract very seasoned, experienced people , however not all are very tech oriented. Pay is low, they pay OT , however there’s some guilt tripping when you bill the client more than the contracted amount, so where do you record the extra time? No where—- there’s no regular admin code to book this time. Plus, they invoice their clients WEEKLY without review/approval of what’s being billed, there’s never enough time to adjust hours or decide what to do with your “extra” time They didn't provide company laptops until late 2021 (POST quarantine) . I always thought this was very unprofessional and not fair to the employee, and a huge IT liability for them too. Even if you’re a CPA, you can’t add it to your name or signature… super weird You get called Associate even with 15+ years of experience.. maybe a little old school? in current times Associates are the 1st year , right out of college kids… will never understand this. The 7hrs day sounds good but in a remote environment, there will always be requests that come up after the fact.

Thank you for your feedback. We'd like to comment on some of your remarks. You are correct that we look to hire experienced people, usually with at least three to five years of experience. Our clients hire us for exactly this reason. It is also true that we provide all our staff with laptop computers, plus an annual stipend to outfit their home work environment. We ordered equipment and offered this stipend after the pandemic forced us to change our business model. Before that, we performed almost all our work at our client's offices, and providing equipment for staff to work remotely was unnecessary. Regarding the time we bill our clients: if our work at a client is taking significantly longer than expected, we work with our staff to see what might be done to assist them. We try to do this in a supportive way and never condone staff to record fewer hours than they actually work. I am sorry if you felt otherwise. You are correct that we can not add "CPA" to our signatures or business cards. This is not our choice; we are not a CPA firm. Regarding the title "Associate" that many of our staff members hold, we do this to keep the organizational hierarchy flat and avoid artificial distinctions one might find at other firms. This structure helps prevent office politics and competition found elsewhere from contention over titles. It also allows our staff to be recognized based on their skills and abilities, not their titles or years of service. Thank you.

Pros

The Associates and Admins are dedicated and professional but tend to be there for a reason- ie they need a flexible job which it really is.

Cons

Management is terrible- Senior Management is worse. Reviews here are co-erced and Best Place to Work voting is monitored. Everyone is so happy, the smiles are so pained. If you get lucky and are assigned decent clients you'll enjoy the work, but if you don't? You will be miserable.

Pros

Good orientation week Opportunities for CPE Other employees are very friendly and helpful

Cons

this company is not prepared for part-time employees. YPTC pushed for a weekly time commitment from the get go, then the offer letter states they will not guarantee any hours whatsoever. Sure enough, I was given a full time hourly schedule with no benefits, when I spoke up, I was dropped to about 10 hrs a month. Better enjoy pep rallies and cheer leading. A good amount of "staff training" involved yptc self-promotion and how lucky you are to work for them, and what you can do to bring in new clients, employees for them. Remote actually means you have a set location you must work from. During the interview stage, I was told about the employees who worked full time and travelled full time while they worked. But once on board I was told we were expected to have a home office we worked from, and was told I could not work (even to check client emails) while traveling.
