Pros
ZFA has created an excellent community and it is a great place to get to work. The staff and leadership is full of interesting and talented people, and the leadership truly cares about the team.
Leadership and staff welcome questions (organizational, project specific or otherwise) and are heavily invested in knowledge sharing. Generally people are willing to stop what they are doing to answer your question and make sure you really understand the concepts at hand.
The culture at ZFA is strong. People often hangout after work together, and the company sponsors fun events throughout the year. People put in effort to engage with new employees to make them feel a part of the team.
The firm has a very diverse portfolio that spans across many project sectors, though many project managers are specialized in their work. I worked primarily in one project sector with one manager, but there were some opportunities to work on other projects.
The pay is competitive especially when you factor in bonuses. Benefits are great overall.
As an intern I got the experience of working through the entire design for a small project, and assisted designers and engineers with many aspects of other projects. As a designer and an engineer, I saw several projects from schematic design through construction administration.
Cons
Firm work load has been heavy since I've been here (but this is industry wide)
Management feels overstretched
Can be a challenge to develop a large project diversity
