Great people, awful software

Pros

Some of the best process safety people you will ever work with, both personally and professionally. If you can keep away from the home brew software it's one of the better PS jobs out there. Benefits are so-so. Profitable years pay a bonus

Cons

The in house software is frustrating and awful, if you get stuck working with it you'll probably start looking elsewhere. Wage increases relatively small.

Pros

-Great people to work with (some of the best) -Lots of opportunities for cross-training -Many opportunities for internal promotions or transfers -Formal training readily available when the company is doing well -Flexible scheduling -Straight time over time (if you are highly billable)

Cons

-Bonuses are non-existent -Bonus structure is based only on how the company does, not your division or personal performance -Benefits and 401k contributions are mediocre compared others in the industry -New "initiatives" that rarely lead to any benefit and constant re-orgs

Pros

Great co-workers, everyone is very knowledgeable and professional. Easy to get along with.

Cons

You have to pay your expenses out of pocket, and hope you get repaid before your bill comes due. They only pay expenses on payday, and wait until the last minute to process, if there are any errors, they pretend they are helping you out, to get paid back in 3 weeks or more. Middle management is decent, but upper management is does not except criticism very well. It's their way or no way.

Unfortunately it appears you disagreed with some aspects of our expense reimbursement process. I believe that our practice of paying submitted and approved expenses biweekly combined with the many, many resources that are available to assist employees makes our process a robust and fair one, and I always strive to make myself available to answer questions or provide clarification when employees are unclear about policies. Feedback on policies and procedures is also always welcome and accepted when presented in a constructive and collaborative manner. I’d urge any employee – current or former – who wishes to share feedback in that manner to contact me directly.
