Pros

Great location Interesting (unfortunately dwindling) clients - good for portfolio

Cons

1. CEOs are worried more about the bottom dollar than the employees that do the work for them and the clients who pay them. 2. CEOs expect everyone to work overtime (evenings and weekends) all the time!! MD CEO believes that's how the company will make a profit 3. Extremely High Turn Over Rate - frustrated employees leaving without adequate knowledge capture and transfer - employees spend a great deal of time trying to figure things out, wasting time, resources and angering clients because of delay/lack of response - loss for the clients and employees end up looking incompetent and are blamed for everything 4. No process whatsoever - the mindset is just get projects done asap to maximize profit without proper planning even if the client provides sufficient budget for things to be done properly. 5. Too many juniors with senior titles because its cheaper to hire them and promote them with small raises then hiring experts to lead the juniors. On client service side, 90% of the team are new graduates with no experience, again that's how the company saves money at the expense of clients. 6. Blatant favouritism (based on what you look like - infer from that what you like) Favored employees are allowed to come running to CEO MD's office to complain or make up allegations against their co-workers rather than make an attempt at resolving the issue like professional adults, other side is not given an opportunity to defend themselves. And all this ends up in a.) Lack of basic office decorum, incompetence b.) Demoralizing work environment where dis-favored employees are set up to fail c.) Imbalance of power among employees & unfair promotions d.) No team spirit - Blame game all across the minute a failure happens e.) Unfriendly, stressful environment f.) All around Bad company culture 7. Too much office politics and gossip - CEO MD vindictive captain gossip himself, has a gossip party at his office and once your names comes up, it basically becomes hell to stay. 8. CEO will not hesitate to humiliate, berate and yell at otherwise stellar employees for a simple one time mistake, simply because he does not like you and will ignore a mountain of mistakes from employees whom he likes 9. No loyalty or appreciation for current or past employees CEO has uttermost contempt for former employees who have resigned, goes out of his way to talk about them in an unprofessional, inaccurate, dismissive mean-spirited manner for the sake of discrediting their work and contribution (mores so if the employees happen to have moved on to go work at competing agencies) 10. Egomaniac CEO MD is extremely pretentious and tries way too hard to be hip/cool vs being fair, decent, professional, objective and a problem solver

Hi there, its Mike Da Ponte (CEO MD), Thank you for your honest feedback. We will take all of your input and strive to be better. What I can say for sure, owning and running a business in the Advertising industry is hard and not to mention STRESSFUL. When I decided to cash in all of my RSP, Mortgage my house and my parents home to invest in BIMM, it did one thing to me....appreciate what it takes to be successful in this business. It's a 24/7 endeavor and often thankless. But one thing above all that I've never forgotten and it lives and breathes in our values as an Agency and that is OUR PEOPLE! They are the lifeblood of our organization and the reason BIMM was voted Canada Digital Agency of the year and Canada's TOP 100 Employer. One primary goal as an organization is to MAKE BIMM AN AWESOME PLACE TO WORK AND HAVE AN AMAZING CAREER. As you know, we have strong values that govern our company. They are etched in steel in our office for everyone that works and visits our office. The one value that I'm proud of is "have your BIMMERS back'. I agree with you, turnover is high in our industry but what I can say is that BIMM in the last five years has experienced an attrition rate of nearly 50% less than the industry average. As an organization, we're proud that people who work here go on to have AMAZING careers and many of them are currently senior leaders within the industry and who we currently have close relationships with. I'm proud of that because I feel we are a small part of their success. As for the CEO worried about peoples opinions or wanting to be hip or cool. I learned a long time ago to embrace my nerd and stopped trying to fit in with any crowd when I was 16. It was hard to be cool when you carried a violin through high school for 5 years :). As for your comment regarding people at BIMM being yelled at or publicly humiliated for making an error. Not a chance! One of our values is "don't be afraid to fail". We celebrate people who go beyond good enough and fail while doing it. We believe it the only way people can grow. Again thank you for your feedback, I hope you have found an amazing place to work and its all of the things you need to be fulfilled in your career. If you ever need anything, we are here to provide advice or support. All the best to you in your future career endeavors. Thank you, Mike Da Ponte President & CEO Voted Canada's TOP100 Employers Strategy Magazines Silver Digital Agency of the Year

Pros

Nice office in the heart of toronto

Cons

Eek! It’s one of those places that hire like crazy then fire like crazy. If you want job security, proceed with these people at your own risk ⚠️

Pros

- Some teams are filled with fantastic people that you will genuinely miss speaking to every day. That quality has gone down recently with a change in priorities but some teams are still really strong. - In the same theme as the above: some teams are both very strong at what they do and extremely kind. It's a rarer mix but a lot of them have have or are leaving the company rapidly (feels like 1-2 a month). - The RRSP matching is a good benefit but you do need to stay 2 years to keep the money the invested in your RRSP. - If you're building your portfolio, there are some good clients to be able to say you've worked with. - If you're realistic about what you're getting into when you join, you can get what you need out of the experience and move on.

Cons

- To echo another review, you will have no life outside of work if you work at BIMM. 80 hours really isn't a joke - after work until 1am, weekends, holidays, sick days, you will work. There's is no over time or lieu time. There have been some serious mental health issues that have come up from staff as a result that everyone knows about. This is not a secret and I'm surprised the CEO left a response saying otherwise. - Upper management feels that working over holidays and weekends is normal and not an exception, so much so they laugh about the "good times" when they worked over Christmas, and the Christmas before that last minute. There are no plans to fix it and countless people have left because of it. - As a result of the above, it's not a great place for anyone looking to work the odd long day or weekend and have hobbies, have a family, etc. - The healthcare plan is very expensive and the lowest package is still very expensive but has very few benefits included in it. - There no resources to up your skills internally. BIMM staff who have been there for 2 years or longer have outdated skills and are outpaced by new staff quickly (which is maybe why you see tenures of <1.5 years or 5+ years). The issue is the skilled staff don't stick around very long, or are so overworked there's no time for them to train others. Those that train others aren't paid to do so but added to their work loads. - Extreme growing pains when it comes to modernizing. Upper management is very out of touch of what is happening outside of traditional media and when it comes to anything technology related are out of their depth. - High turnover has been difficult on the team morale overall and management doesn't seem to be able to prevent it (see above). - Pay is lower than market rate.

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your honesty and transparency. We agree, we do have amazing people that work at BIMM who work hard for their team and the clients they manage. One of the tough parts about our business is that people never stay forever but our goal is to always ensure they leave better than when they came and / or they establish relationships with people they worked with at BIMM. Our people are one of the things that makes us an amazing place to work. I'm sorry to hear your experience wasn't as positive as many others that have come through our doors, we hope that your next place of employment provides you all the things you're looking for. We know this past year has been difficult, between BIMM growing by 30% (hiring over 30 people) and the impact of the Pandemic, its been a challenge to manage at times. But like everything at BIMM we are looking at the positives. One, we are never going back to work in a traditional way. We will be implementing an industry-leading BTW model, we've established a formal HR function to manage the growing and complex needs of our team and we've implemented a new structure and processes to deal with the growth of our company. It's an exciting time to be working at BIMM. As a company, we take our people's lives outside of our office seriously and as we continue to grow we are focused on ensuring the necessary support programs are in place to manage our people's health and wellness. I appreciate the comments and will bring these back to our HR and management teams to ensure we are addressing the needs of all of our employees. All the best.
