Company past its hey day

Pros

-The pay is competitive and benefits decent for a start-up. -Recently, management approved a 401k match -Smart people throughout the Company -Senior management seems to be transparent in communication and Company meetings -Nice office space with free food/snacks and close to most public transportation

Cons

-GTM team experiencing a serious exodus of talent and no telling when the bleeding will stop. Its so bad that we recently had an executive quit before they started. Getting harder and harder to hire once candidates investigate our reputation. -Multiple layoffs globally in last 18 months bringing about feeling of zero job security. Some people have been hired and then let go within a matter of months -Seemingly constant pivots in strategies makes people question whether its reacting to the market or desperation.

Thanks for your feedback! As a current employee, you know that dataxu values any and all feedback from its employees and actively solicits it on a regular basis through a few different vehicles – our anonymous ask the CEO questions at every global monthly company meeting, our annual engagement survey, and our quarterly performance pulses between our employees and their managers to name a few. We’re glad that you appreciate the compensation and benefits we provide and that you believe your colleagues and our leadership to be smart and transparent. You refer to an exodus of talent, but in reality, our annual turnover rate is currently pacing equal to or less than other similar companies in the ad tech industry. Our recent quarterly metrics show that the average tenure of people who left dataxu is 3 years, and of the people who left, 75% would refer dataxu to a friend (we survey every employee before they leave). In our 2018 engagement survey, 90% of our employees who responded said dataxu operates by strong values and ethics and 86% felt that as a company, we were going in the right direction – both things that would coincide with a good reputation. dataxu had ONE global reduction in force more than 18 months ago so it’s unfortunate your perception is so different, and incorrect. Per one of your “pro’s” about dataxu, we seem to be transparent, so you can agree that any time there is any organizational change, it is done in an effort to align our strategy with the industry and to continue our success, and the reason for them is always communicated to every employee globally. Every team at dataxu has its own People Strategy Business Partner. If you are not comfortable addressing your concerns about dataxu with your manager, your Business Partner is a confidential resource that is there to provide information, hear your feedback, and help to ensure you are engaged and feeling good about being here. Please feel free to reach out to them! Otherwise, we can’t help. Responding to this review is our way of trying, but it’s hard to do that when you don’t know who you’re talking to. Finally, it sounds like you’re pretty unhappy at dataxu, despite staying here for over 3 years. Please don’t ever feel like you should stay in any job or at any company where you wouldn’t refer a friend to work or where you feel strategy changes are out of desperation instead of to stay ahead of the market. We want our employees to be fired up to be here and to help us win. Maybe it’s time you think about making a change yourself so that you can feel better about where you come to work every day. We’d rather you be somewhere else and happy than here at dataxu feeling so negatively.

Pros

- Leadership is very concerned about long term growth - Leadership is fairly transparent about the state and strategy of the company - Employees are treated fairly - Company culture does a good job with work/life balance

Cons

- Most of the people who left around me did so because they wanted higher salaries - The promotion and pay structure seems very rigid so you may have to struggle to get the money you want

Pros

I love the people I work with, both in region and across the country. Allows for a great work/life balance. Pretty flexible as far as hours/being in the office goes as long as you are getting your job done. Pay is great, benefits are solid. I love working here.

Cons

I have nothing bad to say about DataXu

Pros

Dataxu seems to pay higher salaries than other firms in AdTech. Company benefits are relatively good.

Cons

Dataxu is not a driver of new technology in the market and is generally 2-5 years behind. Senior management is not able to define a strategic position for dataxu in the global market and can't close essential partnerships with other tech vendors. It is becoming isolated in its independence so that the term of being an agnostic platform slowly starts to dwindle. Selling Dataxu's products seems to be overly reliant on outcome of Forrester Wave reports.

Thanks for your feedback and I am sorry you didn't find dataxu as innovative or cutting edge as I or others do. dataxu leads the market with our 3 TotalTV product offerings and is always iterating and evolving to be best-in-class. dataxu's vision is and has always been that data, when analyzed, reported and applied with transparency and ingenuity, holds the power to take our clients further than ever before. dataxu exists to help our clients use the power of data to create insights into their clients’ most important audiences, to connect with them more personally and with greater impact. Transparency is critical to how we work with our customers and how we work with each other. We do wish that you had been more transparent with your feedback during your employement so that we could constructively discuss your observations and thoughts. Unfortunately, you only shared your insights upon your departure preventing us from doing so. We wish you all the best at MediaMath.

A great place to work

Pros

-To me, the biggest pro is how transparent the company is, both with our clients and internally. The CEO shares exactly how we're doing financially each month and it doesn't feel like anyone is keeping secrets. -The training and onboarding process is extensive and makes you feel like you truly do belong. -There are ample opportunities to grow if you work hard. -Everyone is incredibly friendly. When I started I immediately felt welcome, which doesn't happen everywhere. -Pay is competitive. -They take employees' needs into consideration (i.e. the ping pong table in Boston, standing desks, free lunch every week) -The product offering is strong. Programmatic is a tough industry to be in and our engineering team does everything it can to set us apart. -Sales Kickoff is a great way to boost morale and bring the entire company together.

Cons

The only con I've found is that they don't offer 401K matching, but I believe it's in the works.

Pros

There is a strong esprit de corps at DataXu with a corresponding and an astonishingly low amount of ego in many of the teams. There is still much to be accomplished and very many opportunities for those who want to get involved. Many of the founders are still actively involved in the company. Top management is very approachable and sincerely wants to create an interesting and exciting environment with opportunities for growth but also one that has a good work/non-work balance. There are really smart people from all over the world working here - meaning that there are always many different and valid views on how to solve a problem; if you pay attention, you can learn a lot quickly.

Cons

The strategy and objectives are not always well-communicated to the rest of the organization. Sometimes new strategies and products are not known until they are complete. Salary is only on par with the industry. If you do not ask questions and insert yourself into situations and opportunities, you may feel like you are being left out. It's not intentional but it does happen. It can be easy to become burned out - you must speak up for yourself. A 'pro' is that this is not frowned upon at all.

Valuable experience nevertheless

Pros

Most of the people that work here are simply amazing. DataXu is selective in their hiring process but for a reason. Good pay. Opportunities to take on more responsibility than your current job title may allow. Strong core technology.

Cons

As the company matures, it's losing it's culture and management seems to be running the company like a 4,000 employee operation. It's good to have processes in place but more important to invest in people. Being in a regional office (speaking for SF at least), it becomes apparent how HQ-centric this company is. It's really disheartening to see employees in Boston enjoying all these perks while we come off as needy for trying to negotiate budget for our social events. As with most ad tech companies, if you are not in sales or tech you get the short end of the stick and less attention. Being loud and vocal might rub off on management the wrong way.

Pros

Great coworkers, plenty of smart and hard-working people all around

Cons

- 3 “re-orgs” (layoffs) just in 2019 - upper management woefully out of touch with reality and has no understanding of how to keep company afloat and employees motivated - pays below market
