Pros

Passionate and helpful ground staff work with the public in employment assistance.

Cons

In the realm of helping hands, we once did reside, a career coach and counsellor, with passion as our guide. But alas, our journey took a turn, a path unforeseen, as disappointment and weariness clouded our serenity. The organization that once held its grace, is now veiled in constant change, like a shifting embrace. The direction it took, diverging from our core, no longer aligned with values, we once held at the core. Toxic KPIs hovered, like a dark, heavy shroud, a driven environment, where dreams were disavowed. Upper management, wielding power like a cruel whip, causing hopelessness to grip. Stress and despair, the companions of the day, no progression for most, only privileging the way. A place once filled with promise is now drained of all light, leaving us feeling empty, a soul without its flight. So now we took our leave, bid farewell to this stage, seeking solace and fulfilment, no longer caged. In the realm of helping hands, we shall find our way, a new chapter awaits, where purpose shall hold sway.

Pros

- Stable job with decent pay and a well-known name for the resume. - Exposure to external partners offers occasional opportunities to broaden networks. - Opportunities to learn if you are proactive and willing to navigate the politics.

Cons

- Leadership and middle management are poorly aligned. Priorities shift constantly with little clarity, and accountability often falls unfairly on staff who were never properly briefed. - Heavy workloads with minimal support. Staff are often expected to work into evenings and weekends to rush out tasks without proper resources. - Managers can be inconsistent and lack empathy. Feedback provided, if any, is vague, delayed, or contradictory, leaving staff directionless. - Toxic behaviors (exclusion, gossip, favoritism) are tolerated and sometimes rewarded.

Fast paced work place

Pros

- Most colleagues are nice and friendly like a family

Cons

- Work is too fast pace and hectic. No work life balance. Messy organisation. - Some in middle management can't lead a team. Need to undergo coaching on how to lead staff without scolding or saying mean things. Irony is management says achieving Grade C is okay but some middle management kept pushing staff to do more.

Pros

Good mission. Working level colleagues are ok, esp the newer ones. Loads of potential and opportunities. Good rotation of top leaders.

Cons

Churn is high. Cant keep good people. Toxic management and culture. Long time managers guard turf like their lives. No respect by long timers to newer staff and management. Closed mindsets. Say that will try new things but never do. Competitive and not collaboratibve culture. Helping one another is espoused but when actually done is frowned upon as being too helpful, stepping outside your turf. Asking for ideas constantly, but ideas are often shot down and end up doing same things over and over. Poor reputation in the marketplace yet little done to change it and instead of tapping on a talented workforce, ideas are driven by lackeys chosen to achieve the goals of weak leaders. In the end, the culture is one of just do you job, dont do too much, dont say too much, dont try too hard, just enough is good enough.

Pros

There are still a handful of good and sincere people here, and the mission itself is meaningful. But whether you will thrive depends heavily on your department, reporting officer and tolerance for politics. Before joining, do proper research beyond the branding and mission statements. Ask yourself honestly whether you would be comfortable advocating for the organisation’s products and services.

Cons

The sharp increase in 1–2 star Glassdoor reviews from 2015–2021 compared to 2022–2026 speaks volume about the direction this organisation seems to have taken in recent years. The place presents itself as mission-driven but many newer reviews paint a very different picture and they are not exaggerating. There feels a huge disconnect between stated values and the real internal culture. Ground staff engagement often feels superficial and favouritism is obvious. Visibility matters more than substance. Being better at “managing upwards” matters more than doing real work behind the scenes when it comes to progression. Endless “culture improvement” initiatives, engagement sessions and leadership chats, but little changes because the underlying behaviours seem to remain the same. Newer staff are often expected to be moulded into the existing culture rather than bring fresh perspectives. Which raises the question why even hire external talents? One of the more frustrating aspects of the culture is the strange sense of self-importance that exists in certain middle management individuals. Despite their limited viewpoints and less progressive thinking, some leaders carry themselves with an almost elitist or superior attitude just because they are part of the “movement”. Many long-serving staff sometimes seem completely detached from how healthy organisations outside actually function. New ideas are talked about often, but anything different is quietly shut down if it challenges existing mindsets or egos. What’s ironic is that an organisation advocating for workers can sometimes show very little empathy towards its junior staff… Gossip, judgment, passive aggressive behaviour may not be uncommon.

Great for fresh graduates and non-management roles

Pros

Good benefits, salary and bonus guidelines tend to follow the public service (usually). Good WFH practices. A good stepping stone for those who wish to join public service, or other not-for-profit organisations. Everyone are passionate to help the workers. Most staff are generally great to work with. Not the best but definitely not the worst organisation.

Cons

Expect to work on evenings/ weekends when there are events. Sometimes you may be expected to reply emails or rush out reports/ ppt slides even when on MC/ Leave/ during weekends. Not all of those who are in management positions are leaders- some are task-based managers with a group of people under them. Recent management team seem to be better.

Old school management and Job Mismatch

Pros

Similar benefits as government organisations

Cons

Working here has been frustrating due to outdated management practices and a severe lack of strategic direction. The company seems stuck in the past, with a management style that's both rigid and disconnected from modern workplace needs. While it might be an okay place for entry-level experience or for senior staff who don’t mind just getting by, it’s not the best fit for those looking for a forward-thinking and fair workplace. The respect for staff is minimal, and there’s a strong sense of favoritism, with senior employees often surviving on internal relationships rather than merit. Recruitment processes are poorly handled, with long, disorganized interviews that consume an entire day without prior notice. Job descriptions are misleading, and once hired, you might find yourself doing tasks that don’t match what was advertised—often administrative or customer service work that wasn’t clear from the start. If you're considering joining this company, be prepared for a lack of transparency and respect. It’s worth exploring other opportunities if you value a progressive and equitable work environment.
