Pros

1. You get to make friends with the other employees for sharing miserable everyday life 2. You learn a lot because nobody is going to be there to help you so it's good to get a job in a real company 3. When you leave you get your life back I thought I was going crazy, I thought I was the problem (CHALLENGE AS YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO SAY THE P WORD)! But then I started my new job and now I AM A HAPPY HUMAN BEING

Cons

1. Most of PMs are OVERWHELMED with clients (dear tp, you can't have someone with 90 clients and someone with 3 just because they're friends with management or just cheeky) 2. TP has just been bought by another company and this means more clients for the same (or less, see point 3) amount of staff - just unbearable 3. Highest turnover ever. By the time a newcomer is "trained" (if you can call looking at power point slides a training) and understands how things work in there, they run away (of course!) for a more human, better paid and rewarding job and people staying get all their clients (see point 1) 3b. They don't even try to replace the leavers - even when they have the month notice.. why? because it's all about SAVING MONEY 4. Management (Team managers + Operation managers) are not trained to be so. They just happen to stay longer of the rest of the people who wisely run away before being stuck with promotions 4b. Management (Team managers + Operation managers) have miserable lives and expect everyone below them to have the same 5. Working time is 9-5.30 with 30 mins of flexibility. But if you arrive at 9 and leave at 5.30 (as you are supposed to be and because that's what you paid for), you'll get many raised eyebrows (oh, is he/she leaving already, what a shock! they don't want to do any volunteering for tp, how weird!) 6. OVERTIME IS NOT PAID AND YOU ARE EXPECTED TO STAY LONGER JUST BECAUSE POINT 4b+5 7. You leave (when you manage) the office and you are still raging and this takes all your energies away 8. There's this internal procedure of INTERNAL CHECKS (one of those crazy things promised to clients) basically PMS have to check EVERY translation when it's back from a linguist.... and there is just NO TIME for that! Also, not all languages are spoken in the office, so why do you keep lying to clients saying we check everything?? there used to be INHOUSE QA checkers back in the days with awful basic salaries of 18k pa - I know, what a joke! - and TEMPORARY CONTRACTS, but it was just too easy to keep/renew them, let's just make the PMs DO EVERYTHING! 9.. The office is in a basement with NO AIR and NO WINDOWS (=no REAL LIGHT) and it's not healthy to spend that amount of time underground in front of outdated softwares

Pros

- Nice Projet Managers to work with (when they stay more a couple of weeks)

Cons

- After the first week you will never work an 8-9 hour day again. Overtime can reach crazy amount of hours, most weeks average 50-60 hours, but salary doe not reflect this... You are paid with gratefulness at best. - Work/Life balance is a myth. - To the company all employees are merely cogs in a machine, most employees do not matter to management. - Team managers are of no support AT ALL, especially when you stay later and they are long gone.

Thank you for your feedback. We are disappointed to hear that you are only voicing your concerns after you have left the company. The work of a project manager always carries a certain pressure, as translation is a deadline-driven world, but this is exactly one of the things that makes the job exciting. We do not wish for anybody to work regular overtime. We encourage anybody who feels that they don’t have a choice but to work overtime in order to get their work done to speak to their manager or HR and we will be happy to sit together and to find a solution. We also encourage anybody to speak to our training officer who can provide very useful time management and other training.

Pros

Location is in a nice area Friday drinks are fun You make friends cause youre all in this hell together

Cons

Managers stand over you breathing on you as you work, it's a whole other level of micro management and certainly abuse in some cases You have no capacity to influence change no one cares what you think or what value you can bring Team leaders have it as bad if not worse cause the culture is one of bullying and fear You will never be valued by TP delivering an 11th hour project will be met with more ludicrous demands not thanks Hours are LONG, there's no process you just harrass translators to accept minimal pay and nag other project managers to proofread for you There is no such thing as saying no to a job you need to absorb the stress and stay as late as it takes to beg someone (qualified or not) to take your job and you will be dragged over the coals if there's any errors in the job Salary is so much lower than any competitor and you do not learn about processes or quality which are key for any "real" job Office is a sweat box and turnover is very high

At translate plus we are open to constructive feedback and would advise anyone to discuss it with us while they are working for us. This way we can help to address any challenges together. There have been a lot of positive changes over the years, e.g. working from home arrangements, change in management, monthly all hands meetings, creation of employee committees, overhaul of employment benefits, and much more. We would like to encourage anybody to read our company page for more information and to get in touch to speak to us if you have any questions.
