Pros

There's opportunity to make money if you scratch the back of the MD and feed his inflated ego and sense of self-importance. It's clear who does this well as they have quickly progressed and climbed the ranks. A good place to learn some great skills if you are cutting your teeth in the industry.

Cons

A LOT of people leave quickly, boiler room environment heavily KPI'd and the MD's attitude is do as I say not as I do. The London team lack collaboration and the MD's favourite's hog accounts, "Fat Catting" and to making the lion's share and in order to get on at TwentyAi you are expected to bend the knee in order to get by. money in the business you are expected to grovel, which is degrading and demoralising. There’s is a distinct lack of trust and the MD's paranoia is clear as he choke holds his leadership team often yelling across the sales floor, strong arming client meetings and monitoring/tracking every move you make. The MD is just not good. Not a good leader, not a good listener, doesn’t like being challenged or his decisions questioned and for the most part is feared by the junior members of the business. Working for this company is hard work, as is recruitment in general, however the lack of trust ability to flex your creativity and make decisions on your own make this environment unbearable - and there are better environments to work hard in. Anyone who thinks for themselves or has their own foresight t seemed was shunned, because of this the revolving door of TwentyAI continues, including managers and senior consultants who were unreal but leave because they can't bear the childish environment. 5. No matter what they say, how much commission you could make, or how it’s used to encourage performance, you will be underpaid compared to competitors.

None. But I need to type 5 words.

Cons

Bad management and structure. More worried about data input than retaining good talent.

Thank you for your review although it doesn’t really tell anyone anything about our business so I will attempt to pick out what I think you mean and explain, in a little more detail, my perspective on your comments “More worried about data input than retaining good talent” by this I assume you are referring to a basic function of all recruitment and sales jobs which is to enter your activity on a CRM system. You would be hard pressed to find any decent sales company of any type that didn’t require you to do this. It’s an important discipline to keep everyone in the business informed (not just “management” but also your peers) and essential for our value of “crystal clear”. If you are a team player and care about the success of the business and colleagues you get the importance of this and don’t question it. However, there is another critical reason why we require you to do this at Twenty i.e. because we have built our own data analytics system that actually helps you to do your job better and more efficiently based on the information you enter into the CRM system. The smart, motivated and ambitious graduates that we hire understand that we currently live in the “age of data” the speed of access, quality and clarity of the data at Twenty enables us to have an edge over our competitors. It’s a key factor in our ongoing year on year growth. You couldn’t be more wrong about how much we focus on retaining “Talent". The “Talent” that you refer to us needing to retain understands the importance of doing all elements of their job properly, including entering data, and are progressing rapidly through our company. They are getting opportunities to lead teams, relocate internationally, open new offices for us and are highly valued as the future management. We value talent that represents all of our values of “Life’s Short, Be Eclectic and Crystal Clear” and, no matter what level they are in the business, we do everything we can to invest in, train and retain them. “Stop writing fake reviews on Glassdoor” I can assure you once again that no one in the management at Twenty is writing fake reviews on Glassdoor. Whenever a good or bad review appears on Glassdoor it gets flagged to me (Adrian Kinnersley CEO) and I write a personal response to the review. This is our only strategy to deal with Glassdoor reviews and ratings. I try and add some dry humour / make my responses slightly amusing as well as factual but can’t say it’s a highlight of my job. Ironically a number of people we’ve hired applied because they liked the way Twenty managed the negative reviews on here – every cloud has a silver lining!! “Surely it would be beneficial to spend your time in other ways” I 100% agree there are many more beneficial ways to be spending my time than responding to reviews on Glassdoor but this is the weird world we live in. The internet is responsible for many great innovations however, I personally don’t think platforms for people to anonymously spread negativity about anything has improved our respective lives. If I write something I put my name to it and am prepared to take responsibility for my views. For example: I prefer to write fact based posts like this one on Linkedin about the spectacular ongoing success of our company. Lots of people have worked very hard to make our company a success and I’d rather give them more air time than the occasional negative person on Glassdoor. https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6464127163049275392/ Its celebratory, positive and expresses gratitude. Give it a read it might brighten your day!! After reading this try and do something nice for someone – hold a door open, give a homeless person your spare change, help and old lady across the road, volunteer for a charity. Trust me you will get a warm glow and feel much better about life than you did after writing your Glassdoor review!! Hi - thanks for the review. I genuinely like responding to them. I agree with you that Twenty has a good hiring policy. The results we produce year on year from our organic growth model and our retention statistics seem to indicate we get it right most of the time. From our recent company incentive trip to Ibiza I can totally agree that everyone gets on with each other and had an awesome time. I'm not quite sure how we can be both good at hiring but our people aren't smart. It also doesn't make any sense that everyone is easy to get on with but our environment is toxic. You seem to be contradicting yourself and a little confused. I can also assure you I enjoy my role as CEO very much (even though you disapprove of me - it’s OK I have a thick skin) and I’m hugely excited to see what the future holds for everyone at Twenty. We are growing phenomenally quickly and, having started the company from scratch, I can't imagine a better more challenging and rewarding role. I will therefore be respectfully ignoring your advice and not moving on anytime soon. Obviously we aren't perfect and we aren't the right career choice or fit for some people. I'm "reading between the lines" of your confusing review and guessing we weren't quite the right fit for you. I genuinely hope you find a career / new role that gives you what you are looking for and appreciate whatever effort you made whilst you were with us. Fingers crossed you got something of value from the experience that makes you appealing to another company. Let’s hope you next company has some smarter less toxic folk. Adrian
