Laboratory Technician salaries in Calgary, AB, Canada

Hello! I need some advice and was hoping to get broader input outside of my mentors. I have the opportunity to interview with a competitor for a role that is responsible for lab ops build out for a newly built facility. I’m told by the recruiter the intent is to have this role transition into the lab manager once the build out is done. Is it worth losing the reputation I have built at my current company to gamble the possibility of leadership with this other company, or should I stay put?

In my last role, my lab director was very hands-off, which gave me freedom but also left me feeling unsupported at times. In another role, I had much more structure and feedback, which helped me grow faster but often made me feel under pressure. It made me realize how much leadership style affects career development in research. What kind of lab manager/director has helped you thrive the most, and why?

A lot of people are being nostalgic and remembering life in 2016. What was your career like then? I was just getting started working as a lab tech.
