At Active Prospects, we believe social care has a responsibility not only to deliver great support, but also to help shape the future of the sector. We were pleased to collaborate with the National Care Forum on a recent article for Care Talk Magazine, exploring positive risk taking, shared responsibility and what it takes to support people with complex needs to thrive in their communities. The piece reflects on some of the challenges facing the sector, from fragmented systems and risk-averse cultures to the need for more personalised, collaborative approaches that place people at the centre of decision-making. For colleagues who want to work in an organisation that contributes to national conversations and is committed to driving positive change, this article offers an insight into the values and thinking that underpin our work. Why does working in social care really matter? Supporting people to lead aspiring lives is about more than meeting needs. It is about helping people build confidence, belonging and meaningful relationships. Our latest article explores how one of our supported living teams helped create an environment where friendship could flourish naturally over time, and why those everyday moments matter.

“Neurodiverse teams can empathise with the people they support, understanding unique journeys and challenges. This fosters a sense of camaraderie and mutual respect.” Chris, Lead Support Worker During Autism Acceptance Week, we created space for that conversation. Our Lead Clinician, Lyndsey, hosted a Neurodiversity Panel bringing together four colleagues with lived experience of ADHD, autism and dyslexia. The session exploring how neurodiversity shapes the way people think, work and support others, and what this means for us as an organisation.
At Active Prospects, we recognise the potential in all our colleagues, supporting them to build their confidence, and to take the next step in their careers. We've signed the Menopause Workplace Pledge At Active Prospects, we believe a truly inclusive workplace is one where everyone feels understood, supported and able to thrive at every stage of life. That’s why we’ve signed the Menopause Workplace Pledge — reaffirming our commitment to being a menopause-positive employer and to supporting women’s wellbeing at work. Why this matters We want our work place culture to be informed and supportive — not something people have to navigate alone. By joining the pledge community, we are strengthening our approach and making a clear commitment to: Provide access to helpful information and practical resources Offer training and guidance for managers and colleagues Encourage open, respectful conversations Create policies and practices that reflect real needs Reduce stigma and normalise talking about menopause at work Supporting menopause at work isn’t a standalone action — it’s part of how we continue to live our values every day. As an organisation that prioritises belonging, wellbeing and fairness, we are always looking for ways to improve the experience of our staff. Developing better support around menopause sits alongside our wider focus on flexible working, staff networks, wellbeing initiatives and a positive workplace culture. A workplace where everyone can thrive By committing to the Menopause Workplace Pledge, we’re taking another step towards a more inclusive, understanding and supportive workplace for all.
