Meals and More has been awarded charitable status! Meals & More was set up to put an end to holiday hunger, helping our most vulnerable children by providing nutritious meals and enriching activities to those who normally benefit from free school meals but for whom there is no holiday provision, leaving them at risk of malnutrition, learning loss and social isolation. Over the past three years it’s been amazing to see the commitment of colleagues across the business from depot to depot and from office to office in raising funds and supporting the charity. We have supported and helped thousands of children to date. We believe child poverty is everyone’s problem and we are proud to be part of the movement to tackle holiday hunger in the UK. About Meals & More According to latest figures from the Child Poverty Action Group, over 4m children in the UK are living in poverty. That children should still be going hungry in the 21st century, and in one of the richest countries on the planet, is nothing short of outrageous. Brakes aims to alleviate holiday hunger for these children in the most deprived areas of the UK - facilitating holiday provision clubs through funding and partnership with local providers. What is Meals & More ? Meals & More tackles holiday hunger and social isolation suffered by children who have access to free school meals during term time, but for whom there is no sponsored food provision during school holidays. We support children with nutritious food, activities and a safe environment for children aged 2-18 to attend, in areas of most need. How does it work? We work with delivery partners (the charitable organisations on the ground who run these clubs) and supplier supporters, who help fund the clubs and offer in-kind support like free stock and cooking classes.
