Meet Ashley. When tech goes wrong, can he fix it? Yes, he can! Based at our Newark hub – the biggest electrical repairs centre in Europe – he’s got the skills to breathe new life into all kinds of tech, and get it back in the hands of our customers before you can say ‘Bob’s your uncle’. We asked him to share three weird or wonderful facts about his role and one in particular was very unexpected: 1. He loves how interactive his team are, sharing ideas and solutions between each other. 2. He loves the fact that TV technology is always evolving. It means his role, his repairs knowledge, and his day-to-day challenges evolve too. 3. The strangest tech fault he’s ever had? A customer whose TV wasn’t working as their ‘missing pet snake’ was hidden in it! 🐍 Wow! Definitely not an everyday repair job.
This week is Net Zero Week, raising awareness of why we all need to take on the challenge of tackling emissions to stop global warming. We’re pleased to share that we’re wasting no time on doing just that. Our Supplier Compliance Manager, Martin, is part of the team driving forward the success of our Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered vehicles. “To be involved in the project to move our fleet away from diesel to greener fuels, including CNG biomethane (biogas), is really exciting and allows me to play a significant role in helping move towards the company target of net zero emissions.” Congratulations to all of our colleagues who are involved in this initiative, you’re helping us get one step closer to a de-carbonised fleet! Currys apprenticeships are a great way to launch a career – so Leigh and Dave went to West Nottinghamshire College to shout about them! It was a chance to tell students all about technical courses based at the Newark Repairs Centre, such as the Computing & Vision Apprenticeship. Yesterday, colleagues across the business sported green for Mental Health Awareness Week. The aim was to raise funds and awareness for mental health, in partnership with the Mental Health Foundation.
