What makes D2L extra special? Our Lego program! Last week, new D2Lers were buzzing with excitement, collecting their personalized mini-figure Legos. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗼? 🧱 Well, it’s the perfect conversation starter! Hearing the office come alive with stories behind each choice (a bike to represent a hobby 🚴♂️ or a cat to resemble a beloved pet 🐱) is such a great way to connect. 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆? We've got it! D2Lers can personalize their mini-figures to reflect their individuality. The program includes a wide range of customization options, ensuring everyone can see themselves represented. Moreover, our Lego Program highlights the uniqueness of each D2Lers career journey. No two Lego sets look the same; each mini-figure represents the diverse paths, skills, and experiences we bring. This personalization fosters a sense of belonging and celebrates individual contributions! Plus, Lego goes beyond just fun—these mini-figures are part of D2L's employee recognition program! We get to collect bricks throughout our journey for attending events, and completing projects, as well as for work anniversaries, and awards nominated by our peers. 🏆

In this blog, D2L Technical Writer, Maryna Zdoryk, shares her story of fleeing the war in the Ukraine and starting her new life in Canada and at D2L. This is a must-ready story of resilience and community. "D2L isn’t just a job—it has become a lifeline. The support I received from my colleagues was extraordinary. When we first arrived in Canada, we had almost nothing. Yet, my D2L family stepped in, providing us with furniture, household essentials, and even a fireplace that brought warmth to our new home, both literally and emotionally."
At D2L, we take our desire to grow seriously. That’s why we’ve rolled up our sleeves, donned our gardening gloves, and created a thriving community garden at our headquarters in Kitchener.
D2L has a number of employee resource groups (ERGs) and committees that contribute to our culture and employee experience. Over the years, D2Lers have come together to create these groups and each emerged out of a desire to create community, facilitate important conversations, and provide training, resources and events to all employees. Learn about the ERG's and Committees in the latest blog.
Women in Action Mentorship Program: At D2L, we believe in fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace where everyone can thrive. One of the ways we achieve this is through our Women in Action (WIN) employee resource group (ERG). WIN is dedicated to empowering and uplifting the voices of women and non-binary individuals within D2L. In February 2024, WIN launched an official mentorship program that has been in high demand since its launch. The third cohort of the program kicked off in August. D2Lers from the Toronto Office celebrated Earth Day with a spring clean-up event at Queen’s Park. The event was organized by the Toronto Social Committee and in total, 16 D2Lers collected ten bags of garbage from the park. D2Lers were able to use one of their two paid Volunteer Time Off days to devote a few hours to this cause. These hours contributed to D2L’s goal of D2Lers contributing 2,500 hours of volunteer time collectively to their communities in celebration of D2L’s 25th anniversary.
