Let’s celebrate the incredible people shaping the future of recycling at EMR. From operations to commercial roles and leadership, there are purposeful positions within the recycling industry that you might never have even considered – which is a story that a lot of our heroes can relate to. EMR works to open doors into this opportunity-filled industry and help anyone to find their purpose through mentorship, training and progression. This International Women's Day, let’s break barriers and build a more sustainable future together. #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2025 #WomenInRecycling #Sustainability
Meet Samantha Hunter, Export General Manager at EMR. Her journey started far from the docks, initially training as a firefighter before discovering her passion for the recycling industry. Now, she’s leading a team, coordinating massive shipments of sustainable materials, and playing a vital role in delivering high-quality recycled materials to customers worldwide. What's her advice to the next generation of recyclers? “I would never have thought that I could be responsible for loading huge ships for a recycling company when I left school hoping to become a firefighter… There are so many opportunities available at EMR that I’d recommend getting a job in a yard, discover what it is that excites you and then follow that.” #SustainableCareers #WomenInRecycling #CircularEconomy
At EMR, over 10% of our drivers and key staff come from a military background and we're dedicated to helping other ex-military personnel find rewarding careers. By partnering with Veterans into Logistics, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to training and placing these vital individuals into HGV driving roles across the UK, we're helping address unemployment and homelessness among veterans while tackling the UK’s HGV driver shortage. We're proud to be a Platinum Sponsor and - to start our partnership - we donated a 12-tonne lorry, which was handed over at a ceremony at EMR Salford on 16th January. The event was attended by Mayor of Manchester, Andy Burnham, as well as EMR's senior leadership team. Discover more about how this partnership will make a difference to people in our communities ⬇️
