Over the last 2 weeks we’ve been delighted to have Poppy Cooke working with us during her internship. She’s been working diligently with the team on several different sustainability initiatives and got to know the ins and outs of various exciting projects. As a final year student at the University of York studying Environment, Economics and Ecology she put her talents to good use by reviewing reports on enhancing ecological value for a number of projects. This included a Preliminary Ecological Appraisal for a site in Soho, carrying out essential biodiversity research work for a conservation and carbon credit project and exploring the options for the enhancement of a sensory garden in a local school. By analysing different species surveying techniques, conservation strategies and biodiversity opportunities, Poppy was able to contribute to each of these projects. Lastly, Poppy was also able to get practical experience on site and help conduct a Great Crested Newt survey over 2 days as well as join one of our CPD sessions delivered to an architectural practice on Biodiversity Net Gain. Overall, it’s been fantastic having Poppy join the team and support us in such a hands-on way. We look forward to seeing her progress in her degree and career moving forward.
Earlier in the year we carried out WELL testing for the Sky Innovation Centre. This was one of over 20 performance verification site tests we’ve done just this year. We are so proud to be involved in projects like this so that building occupants can enjoy healthy environments to live and work in. While the WELL journey can be long, and potentially challenging, it is a rewarding experience when achieving certification. The Sky Innovation Centre proudly has been honored with WELL Platinum certification, demonstrating their space to be of the highest standard. Eight Versa are one of the first and only UK Performance Testing Organizations for the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) and are delighted to be working with innovative organizations like Sky who are aspiring to create such high-quality healthy buildings. #WELL #healthybuildings
