When I arrived at GovNet, my goal was to ensure our talented team had the very best tools at their disposal to maximise the impact of our events upon the communities we serve. With the support of every one of my colleagues at GovNet, we continue to make great strides in this area – and I thank them for that.” The Ones To Watch are the leaders that are destined for great things and are the driving force behind tomorrow’s mid-sized firms. They are growing businesses that are making a big impact on their customers and target markets and will be the nation’s principal job creators over the years to come. GOVNET CEO TUCKER NAMED ‘ONE TO WATCH’ IN TOP BUSINESS AWARDS James Tucker, CEO of leading events organiser GovNet, has been named as one of this year’s Ones To Watch, as part of The LDC Top 50 Most Ambitious Business Leaders programme for 2021. James impressed the judging panel by leading a comprehensive change programme across the business, including a significant investment in its digital infrastructure, as well as further enhancing the culture of the company and creating a flexible and supportive environment for employees. The bulk of this project was successfully delivered during the Covid-19 pandemic – at a time when the live events sector had ground to a halt. The LDC Top 50 Most Ambitious Business Leaders programme, which is supported by The Times and now in its fourth year, celebrates the inspiring leaders behind some of the UK’s most successful and fast-growing medium-sized firms. Despite the challenges of the last 18 months, the Top 50 programme received a record number of nominations; more than 600 proving that ambition is alive and well. 1/2
🏡 NEW LONDON OFFICE 🏡 Our colleagues in London have spent the last few weeks making themselves at home at our brand new, spacious, and modern offices in Eccleston Yards, just behind Victoria Station. This innovative workspace complements our new flexible working model, as we embark on the next exciting stage of our growth. Our IT department has been hard at work as we continue to invest heavily in new equipment for our wonderful team of GovNetters! This year we are pushing ahead with a huge digital upgrade to benefit our colleagues, the events we host, and the people that attend them… The latest stage of this project saw our brilliant IT team install the first batch of laptop computer systems across the ground floor of our London office – with more floors to follow very shortly! A big thanks to Ron Doobay (our CTO) and his team. Here’s the "AFTER” picture…
As part of our commitment to good mental health, our Head of People, Tina Costi, has played a vital role in launching our Employee Assist Programme (EAP). This provides all GovNetters with 24-hour access to a helpline to support them through any of life’s issues or problems. Whether they are suffering from stress or anxiety, need medical information or counselling, or require advice with work or relationships, our EAP is on hand to help.
Everybody at GovNet was thrilled to see Piers Kelly and Hannah Roberts named in The CN30 Under Thirty last month. The guys recently picked up their awards during a special ceremony at Camm & Hooper’s Morton Society in London, where they also experienced a unique cheese making and gin tasting experience. Keep your eyes peeled for the December issue of Conference News, which will include a special feature on the event. We are always keen to invest in our staff and put them forward for top industry awards!
Last week we took our entire workforce for an overnight stay at Hanbury Manor in Hertfordshire for the very first GovNet Annual Conference. The two-day event included sessions on the company's history, plans for the future, and people and culture, as well as some fun events. The team enjoyed football matches, rounders, a BBQ, a disco and a very special Cluedo-themed murder mystery treasure hunt. The feedback has been amazing and we cant wait to start planning next year's event!
