As a perfect finale to Oakleaf’s Pride month celebrations in June, we were honoured to have Matt Lindley as the guest speaker of our “Pride Fireside chat”. Matt was one of the RAF’s first openly gay pilots and he spoke to us about how ally-ship and strong, authentic leadership supported his journey and gave him the strength to be his true self. He highlighted how having good mental health can support peak performance in the workplace and why having an inclusive culture at work can be so powerful. This wasn’t just another “coming out” story but a valuable lesson on how the small changes we can make as individuals and as a collective, can support people to be the best version of themselves: honest and authentic.
