At Paycor, we take community seriously. That’s why one of our Guiding Principles is Have Fun Along the Way. With associates located around the country – and even around the globe! – we make every effort to host local events, empowering them to connect with each other and build team spirit. Our Culture Champions are central to that effort. These superstars host meet-ups for local Paycor associates, from co-working days to sporting events to participation in local 5ks. Each event fosters strong, personal relationships between our valuable team members. Asked to describe Paycor’s Culture Champions, Principal Employee Experience Manager Kristen Beckman calls them “influencers! Our champions shape a positive workplace culture. Their important work strengthens connection and collaboration across Paycor’s entire team. In just the past few months, our associates have gathered for trivia night in Cincinnati, NBA game nights in Dallas and Chicago, food and wine tasting in Orlando, and Happy Hour in Serbia – and so much more! I’m so proud to lead this group and can’t wait to see what they have lined up next.”
In honor of Women’s History Month, we’re proud to recognize the many amazing women who work at Paycor. Their contributions are essential for our entire team’s success – not just in March, but throughout the year and our company’s history. The Women’s Inspiration Network, or WIN, is one of our most active ERGs. This month, we’re excited to host Paycor’s third annual WIN Retreat: The Power of the Pause. From March 11–13, attendees will gather in Cincinnati to connect, reset, and learn from each other – not to mention members of our Executive Committee! Brandi Tourville, Regional Sales Director and participant in a previous WIN retreat, puts it best: “Behind every successful woman is a team of other successful women who have her back…who will always be there to cheer us on, pick us up, and push us further.”
Happy Black History Month! We’re so excited about what February has in store. Every year, our DE&I team partners with Colorful Connections, an ERG representing people of color, to produce a series of events celebrating Black History Month. Amy Hull, Paycor’s Head of DE&I, recalls past events and looks forward to this year’s series: “While each year is a little different, all these events highlight achievement and celebration. Last year, Marcia Sells spoke to us about her experience as one of the first Black ballerinas to perform with the Dance Theatre of Harlem. We’ve heard from the mothers of Trayvon Martin and Eric Garner, as well as Black leaders within Paycor. We also host trivia games, share playlists, and have fun along the way. The focus is always on uplifting Black associates and celebrating our rich history.” We’re proud to celebrate this occasion at Paycor, and we recognize it as just one piece of our year-round commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
At Paycor, we’re proud to support associates – at work and in every part of their lives. That’s why we offer a holistic, people-first benefits package. This calendar year, we introduced several new options, including: • Airvet Pet Telemedicine connects pet owners with over 2,5000 veterinarians across the U.S. Our associates can now access 24/7 care for pets of any species from the comfort of their homes. • Starting on April 1st, 2025, Paycor will expand our Bereavement Leave policy to include one paid day off following the loss of a pet. • Our new Compassionate Leave program supports associates who experience pregnancy loss. In these difficult circumstances, team members can now take up to five days of paid leave. We care about our work here – and that means caring about the people on our team. We hope these new programs will help Paycor associates and their loved ones live healthier, happier lives.
It’s that time of year again! Paycor’s annual holiday celebration, Spreading Cheer, is in full swing! Kristen Beckman, our Principal Employee Experience Manager, explains this series of events as “designed to make sure associates feel appreciated, engaged, and connected throughout the season.” Spreading Cheer runs from November 1st through the end of December, celebrating our team, their families, and communities. Last month’s initiatives aimed to surprise and delight the community: our associates participated in ERG events and volunteered by donating canned goods, sending holiday cards, creating cheerful drawings to share with nursing homes, supporting our troops overseas, and more, leading up to Giving Tuesday. In December, Paycor gives back to associates through a recognition campaign, special online events, and the chance to receive some pretty amazing gifts. “We can’t wait to celebrate our guiding principles this holiday season by taking care of each other and having fun along the way!” Kristen says.
We’re thrilled to announce that our latest Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report has been published! ESG reports demonstrate Paycor’s commitment to our guiding principles of Do the Right Thing and Take Care of Each Other. Our CEO, Raul Villar, Jr., puts it best: “We are proud of the tangible strides we have made in reducing our environmental impact, cultivating a culture of empowerment and inclusion, building a team who cares about our customers, making a positive impact on our communities, and upholding strong governance practices.” But what does that mean in practice? Here’s an example. Every year, we conduct at least two company-wide surveys to gather direct feedback from associates. In the fiscal year 2024, 81% of respondents said they would highly recommend working at Paycor to others, and 82% said that Paycor motivates them to do their best work. What a win!
We’re so excited to launch Paycor’s Mentoring and Sponsorship program! Amy Hull, our Head of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion calls this “an exciting opportunity for our frontline associates at Paycor to obtain coaching and visibility to our senior leadership. In our pilot program in the spring, the quality of the match was one of the highest-rated items on the closing evaluation. Two of our pilot participants have already been promoted and we are looking forward to seeing what our first official cohort will accomplish in their careers! Paycor invests in the growth and retention of all employees!”
We don’t just work hard – we also know how to play! Playcor is an annual virtual experience that celebrates Paycor’s company culture, drives connection between our associates, and encourages fun along the way! This summer’s theme, Hack the Status Quo, highlighted the unique ways our associates deliver the customer experience, bring new ideas to the workplace, and invest in each other. As Kayla O’Neal, our Playcor host, explains: “We’ve been problem-solving new solutions for years, and the fact that this organization makes time and space for us to share our ideas shows how much the company cares about associates.” At this year’s Playcor, we came together to honor the associates who exemplify our guiding principles: Take Care of Customers First, Take Care of Each Other, Do the Right Thing, Think Big, Dream Big, Compete to Win, and Have Fun Along the Way. Thank you to everyone who submitted a nomination, and congratulations to the winners!
We hope everyone had a great Juneteenth! Paycor was officially closed on Wednesday, June 19th so our team could observe the holiday. Because we have associates all across the country (and beyond!), our leadership team put together a list of Juneteenth happening in the U.S. cities with the highest concentration of Paycor people. There’s so much to do – especially in places like Cincinnati, Chicago, Dallas, and San Francisco! We can’t wait to hear about everyone’s celebrations. On Monday of that week, Amy Hull, Head of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, also hosted a virtual event: Celebrating Freedom, Roots, and Rhythm. Attendees learned about the history of Juneteenth and the role African-American rhythms play in our culture.
The Paycor Leader program empowers associates to become better leaders, at every level of the organization. Participants curate their personal leadership brands, learn about corporate and career strategy, walk through Paycor’s financials, build relationships with C-Suite leaders, and compete in a hackathon capstone project to solve real business issues. And every step of the way, they have opportunities to connect with each other. This cohort experience encourages associates to be curious, ask questions, make suggestions, explore the business, and foster meaningful connections. Leah Landis, Senior Manager of Talent Development, puts it best: “This is what it is all about- crushing silos, building business chops, and breaking down any mystery about how Paycor runs our business, all while meeting new friends and investing time in yourself and your career.”
