During Glad to Care Awareness Week in June, we heard from the incredible people who make a difference every day across Priory’s Adult Care services. We asked our amazing colleagues: “What do you love about working in care?” 💬 Ugbeh, who works at Fern Lodge in Chester, believes care is a calling rooted in compassion and dignity: “Working in care gives me the opportunity to bring a smile to the faces of those in need and support them to live more independent and fulfilling lives. I’m passionate about helping others and providing person-centred care that respects each person’s individuality.” 💬 Louise, who currently works part-time at The Lodge in Somerset, began her career after leaving a role in domestic violence advocacy: “It was my first time doing care and I LOVED it. I found that I loved being kind, calm, gentle, encouraging to people… Some of the conversations you end up having are so funny... I fit in well.” 💬 For Stella, a Health and Social Care First Aider and Support Worker, care is a lifelong duty and a platform for advocacy: “Each day gives me the privilege to support individuals with compassion, dignity, and kindness. I cherish the trust placed in me by those I care for, their families, and my colleagues.” To all our care colleagues, thank you. You make an extraordinary difference. Interested in joining our team? One of our goals at Priory is to embed a culture of openness, inclusion and trust where our colleagues feel they belong. We are committed to preventing discrimination at work while understanding differences and overcoming barriers to enable both colleagues and those we support for to thrive. We know that simply having a diverse workforce is not enough. We want to create an inclusive environment, where everyone can contribute their best work and develop to their full potential. We also want to celebrate the fact that everyone is different yet valued and to make sure that every colleague, patient and resident is treated with dignity and respect. This International Women’s Day, we’re reminded that progress doesn’t happen by chance - it happens through action. While systemic barriers still exist, real change comes when women support each other, speak up, and challenge bias. Male allies also play a crucial role in advocating for equality. Our CEO, Rebekah Cresswell shares her thoughts on why we must take action today to create a better tomorrow: 🗣 “I would encourage women to support each other and address issues as they arise rather than “put up” with them. If we allow things to foster that are not positive, we don’t pave the way for the next generation of women.” Let’s work together to build a more inclusive future 💪
