BOXING DAY BONANZA CAPS OFF LONDON DESIGNER OUTLET’S STRONGEST YEAR EVER WITH £99M RECORDED IN TOTAL SALES • Boxing Day confirmed as LDO’s best trading day ever and brought total 2023 sales to £99m • Bargain-hunting Londoners lifted total sales throughout December to record-breaking £11.2m • Footfall on 26 December was up 11% year-on-year as shoppers shunned online purchases London Designer Outlet recorded its strongest year of trading ever in 2023, with a Boxing Day sales surge capping off total annual sales of £99m. The capital’s leading fashion and lifestyle outlet recorded its best Christmas week since its opening in 2013, including a Boxing Day bonanza that saw the outlet mark its strongest trading day to date, chalking up £866k. Across December, the LDO welcomed a surge of visitors as recent additions such as Boss and Timberland, boosted footfall by 11% year-on-year. This rise in festive bargain-hunters lifted the outlet’s total sales in December to a record-breaking £11.2m. As a result, fourteen of the brands that call the LDO home achieved recording breaking Boxing Day sales, including Calvin Klein, Moss and Levis, with store upsizes and upgrades driving year-on-year sales increases for The North Face (34%) and Tommy Hilfiger (30%).
12 December 2023: LDO records best ever Black Friday as savvy shoppers continue to seek best deals LDO records its highest sales for Black Friday week in 10-year history, exceeding the previous record by 8.6%. November sales were the best November on record for the second year in a row, surpassing £9 million. Black Friday week saw footfall surge at the outlet by over 8% when compared to 2022 The menswear category performed particularly well, with a 123.4% increase in sales.
11 Oct 2023 Quintain announces GP ‘super surgery’ at Wembley Park to open early next year with 25,000 patient capacity. Quintain, the award-winning developer behind Wembley Park, is today announcing a new GP ‘super surgery’ to open at the heart of Wembley Park. When operational, it will be the largest NHS GP practice in the borough of Brent, serving up to 25,000 patients. The 11,000 sq. ft space will be operated by Wembley Park Medical Centre, relocating from Wembley Park Drive to Humphry Repton Lane close to Olympic Way and Boxpark Wembley, a 10-minute walk from their old premises. The build will create state-of-the-art general practice medical spaces including two clinical suites, 14 consult exam rooms, four treatment rooms, and an e-consult room. It has been designed with a double height reception and waiting area into the ground floor of the Repton Gardens residential development at the heart of Wembley Park.
13 September 2023 Quintain, the developer behind Wembley Park, announces that it has completed the refinancing of the company’s existing corporate facility and infrastructure loans. The new agreement, totalling £780m, is backed by J.P. Morgan and Cheyne Capital and replaces a previous facility, which was agreed in 2016. Since breaking ground on Wembley Park nearly 20 years ago, Quintain has completed more than 5,000 homes, invested £2.8bn and continues to grow with two further Build to Rent schemes underway and on track to be delivered in 2025, plus a major new public park. The new agreement with J.P. Morgan and Cheyne Capital will support the ongoing development of Wembley Park in the years ahead.
24 Jul 2023: Quintain collaboration with LSE wins Europe-wide award for co-creating public space with young people. Seen & Heard and its legacy project the Apprenticeship in City Design, a collaboration between London School of Economics (LSE), Quintain and the London Borough of Brent has won a coveted Eurocities Award in the ‘Young people co-creating public spaces’ category. Seen & Heard and the Apprenticeship gave young people aged 16-24 a voice in the design and management of their local public spaces at Wembley Park. The outcome includes Samovar Space, a purpose-built area at the foot of the Olympic Steps and Wembley Stadium, designed for and by young people as part of the Apprenticeship in City Design.
LDO welcomes raft of store upsizings and celebrates sixth consecutive month of record-breaking trading 22 Jun 2023 London Designer Outlet announces a raft of new store upsizes and upgrades by major brands Guess, Levi’s, The North Face and Lindt are the latest in a line-up of brands that have increased their footprint at the centre with Timberland also being welcomed to the centre. A total additional 20,612 sq ft has been let to existing brands since 2020, to upsize and introduce new flagship concepts at the centre. The outlet, located in Wembley Park and now in its tenth year, has also recorded its sixth consecutive month of record-breaking trading as May figures topple over the £8m mark.
Staff Survey 2022 Highlights We are delighted to be able to share the results of our Staff Survey undertaken in November/December 2022. At a company wide level, participation in the survey (91%) and overall positivity score (85.1%) grew compared to our 2021 survey (2021: participation: 87% and positivity: 83.5%). We consider scores in the 85%+ bracket to be very strong. High scores were seen over a number of areas including understanding of Quintain’s direction and strategy, access to senior management, awareness of corporate and departmental objectives, liking working for a company with clear values and feeling updated on business progress. We also saw strong scores with the number of employees saying they were proud to work for Quintain, enjoy their job, feel happy at work and understand our company values.
London Designer Outlet exceeds all previous records as it enters tenth year of trading with strongest ever Q1 11 May 2023 London Designer Outlet (LDO) achieved its strongest ever April, with sales increasing 16% YOY and 17% since pre-pandemic (2019) Q1 sales at the LDO amounted to £19.7m, representing a YOY increase of 17% and making it the best first quarter on record Sales in the quarter were boosted by a particularly strong two week Easter holiday, the first year this period has achieved over £5m in sales. The average transaction value (ATV) over the same period was up 14% on pre-pandemic levels. The results follow on from a trajectory of five consecutive record-breaking months for the outlet center, which celebrates its 10 year anniversary this year. The figures demonstrate the resilience and enduring success of outlets and is a reflection of how the urban outlet proposition has evolved over the last decade.
20 Apr 2023: Wembley Park Unveils Newly Restored 1948 Olympics Plaque and New 2021 Olympic Steps Plaque on London's iconic Olympic Way. Commemorative plaque from the original 1948 Olympic Games recently restored, re-landscaped and on proud display for visitors once again. Plaque restored by developer Quintain with support of the British Olympic Association, World Olympians Association, author Mike Collett and Wembley History Society Area surrounding the plaque re-landscaped by Goddard and LDA Design. An additional Portland Stone plaque by stonemason Louis Russell revealed in front of National Stadium, to celebrate the completion of the newly transformed Olympic Way and Olympic Steps in 2021. Unveiling ceremony for both plaques took place on April 19th in Wembley Park in the presence of Mayor of Brent and Leader of Brent Council.
21 Mar 2023: Quintain agrees three-year residency with Punchdrunk Enrichment to create new immersive arts space in Wembley Park. Quintain has announced a new collaboration with Punchdrunk Enrichment, leading education and community-led immersive theatre company. In a three-year residency, Punchdrunk Enrichment will transform an 8,000+ sq ft industrial unit into Brent’s first-ever co-created immersive arts space. Quintain is investing close to half a million pounds into the project, which reinforces Wembley Park’s leisure offering and strengthens the provision of high-quality amenities for its growing community. Punchdrunk Enrichment is the latest addition to Wembley Park’s impressive cultural scene.
