Today we are celebrating World Youth Day! As a business, we are dedicated to nurturing young and emerging talent. In fact, 10% of our UK employees are apprentices. To ensure that RS is a great place to work and provides a supportive environment that fosters growth, a collection of colleagues came together to form 'Bloomers' our Employee Resource Group for people within our business aged 16 to 30. Bloomers committee member Millie McAuley told us: "We created Bloomers to be more than just an information group. We wanted to build a thriving community that embodies our shared vision to create a global network of young minds and skills across the business. "Our primary goal is to boost the confidence of our Bloomers members, helping them to unleash their potential and flourish in their careers. This is achieved by creating an environment of support, mentorship, and learning. We provide an avenue for people to connect, share ideas, and work together on projects that span departments and geographical locations. "We believe that diverse perspectives fuel creativity and drive progress." Let's celebrate World Youth Day, embrace the spirit of Bloomers, and ignite a brighter future together! #WorldYouthDay #Bloomers #ERG
During the past 12 months, we have transformed our portfolio of separate brands to a unified and globally integrated RS brand. Our one-brand approach brings together our industrial and MRO product and service solutions offer which is easier to explain, easier to understand, and easier to interact with. The move ensures that it is as easy as possible for our customers to access the full range of our product solutions to meet their industrial needs, including our own brand, RS PRO. Our service solutions help our customers reduce their supply chain costs, provide digital tools and online communities to support design and development, deliver their end-to-end safety needs and increase asset utilisation. Operating under the RS brand, we want to be more widely recognised as an industrial and MRO solutions partner thereby driving high-value customer spend, both existing and new and increasing customer lifetime value. One Brand. One Team. One Culture. #WeAreRS #RSGroup
As one of just a few global distributors of MRO products and service solutions, we operate in a large and fragmented industrial market. Despite its size, much of the market is still local and many of our competitors are independent businesses and regional firms specializing in a narrow product offering and limited service solutions with less developed digital capabilities. We estimate our DTAM of the global MRO and safety and protection market is >£470 billion reflecting the broad range of product offering. The market typically grows at gross domestic product (GDP). We have the product range, superior availability and responsive service capabilities that enable us to offer industrial and MRO products globally. Our electronics range concentrates mainly on the sub-categories associated with industrial requirements. July was Disability Pride Month and we would like to take this opportunity to highlight Bonnie Dunion, who is a Product Owner at RS, for being an exceptional ally and advocate for the disabled community. For over a decade she has been organising a monthly nightclub-style event for local adults with disabilities, which is regularly attended by over 100 people from across Northamptonshire and Peterborough. Bonnie told us: "From the very beginning, the idea was to provide local people living with disabilities with a real night out and something to look forward to every month. Our aim has always been to provide as close to a real nightclub experience as possible, with a safe environment to socialise, dance, have a drink if they wish, and most importantly have fun." "Both my mum and step-dad spent the majority of their careers working in care, specifically with people who have Prader-Willi Syndrome. It often frustrates me that people are treated differently because they have a disability. I love that we can provide them with a place to be themselves without judgment.” The next event takes place on Monday 14th August. You can find out more at: https://weare.rs/478VlTo

Every year we provide our colleagues with two volunteer days to support charities and good causes. Last month some of our HR Team decided to spend one of their days helping out at Animals in Need Northamptonshire, close to our Corby, UK office. Animals In Need is an organisation dedicated to rescuing sick, injured, trapped and distressed wild and domestic animals. We provide veterinary treatment where necessary, care for and rehabilitate animals until they can be released or re-homed. Animals In Need was set up in 1990, the aim of the organisation is alleviate suffering in animals. Tash Farquhar, VP of People - Corporate Functions & Supply Chain told us: "We talked about what we could do together as a team. We're all animal lovers, so it was an easy decision. We invited some other HR teams who support us and enjoyed a great day out. "It wasn't all playing with animals, but we got to walk the dogs, clean out the water bottles for the rabbits, clean the ferret cages, sweep up goat droppings and even clean windows. It was a great experience and amazing to be able to give back to a local organisation. "I know everyone had a good day and enjoyed the experience and definitely something we all agreed we want to do again soon." Gemma Sutton, People Business Partner, added: "I really enjoyed giving back together as a group, I felt part of something and left with more gratitude than I went in with. Dog walking was my favourite part! I will absolutely being go

During June, many logos around the world change to stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community. Logos are a mark of distinction – they are also emblematic of an organization’s values and beliefs. At RS, the Pride logo represents the changes we want to see as an employer, the changes we want to see in our industry and the changes we want to see around the world. We’re proud that many of our partners, customers and suppliers are changing their logos too. We’ve changed our logo across our social channels based on the Pride flag devised by Morgan Carpenter, to ensure inclusivity is at the heart of the LGBT+ movement. The new design incorporates intersex people into the movement and was led by Valentino Vecchietti. It builds upon Quasar's Progress Pride Flag, which added stripes that emphasise groups within the LGBTQ+ community that often experience further marginalisation. We're looking forward to some huge events across our business and markets this month, including our sponsorship of both Dallas Pride and Corby Pride. Happy Pride Month from everybody at RS! 🌈 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
