Last week, members of our team visited the Cancer Research UK facility at UCL as part of our ongoing charity partnership - which has raised nearly £5m in the last five years. Ten members got to see the science behind the fundraising, explore the research facility and speak directly with professors and research about their incredible work
For Roadchef, giving something back is really important to everything we do. Whether that's through our charity partnership with Cancer Research UK or through our range of local partnerships to help support our local community. Last Thursday, our Commercial team went and supported a local Cannock charity NewLife - just 10 minutes from our Norton Canes services - helping them repaint their Opportunity Centre ahead of their 30th anniversary celebrations later this year! We can't wait to see the finished room when all the pictures have been hung back on the wall!"
It's been a busy summer at Roadchef and now the holiday's are over its a great time for us to catch up with some housekeeping. Across all of our sites our amazing teams have taken part in trash Tuesday, while catching some last minute summer sunshine! Here are some of our amazing team members and managers from Clacket Lane services on the M25 doing their bit to ensure all of our customers have a great visit. At Roadchef we are passionate about giving something back to the community around us. We are proud to have partnered with a school very close to one of our Service areas. We have held open days at Watford Gap, held CV writing and interview skills workshops with the older candidates As part of the partnership we were keen to do something special for the pupils in the school holidays. The school suggested we could improve a part of the grounds to include seating areas and reading sheds. So the HR Team plus some of our Senior Leadership team wellied up and set off with shovels, rakes and paint. 2 days later we are so proud of everything we were able to improve and can't wait to hear what the pupils think when they return in September.
At last, the summer holidays are here and our amazing Roadchef teams across the country are ready and prepared to welcome all of our customers who will visit us during the holiday period. Last week 300 Roadchef employees and guests descended on Alton Towers to celebrate our Everyday Heroes at our annual conference. Our afternoon session was all about looking forward to the year ahead and beyond and celebrating the amazing achievements of our Service areas and individual team members in 2022 These events are held annually to celebrate our teams and individuals achievement with recognition at our evening Gala dinner. There were so many great winners and celebrations went on well into the early hours. One of the highlights of the day was the announcement that we have achieved PLATINUM Investors in People status- well done to every team member who contributes to make Roadchef such an amazing place to work.
Last week saw another of our exciting new WHSmith refurbishments, this time at Rownhams Services near Southampton and today we completed Northampton South. Our retail team is busy updating and refreshing as many as possible in preparation for our busy summer season.
