It is with great pride that we announce the winners of the 2026 Sunstates Security Officer of the Year Award, presented last week at our Annual Leadership Conference in Raleigh, NC! Each year, regions across the country nominate officers who have demonstrated extraordinary service, and a panel of executive leaders selects the finalists. This year, the stories of heroism and dedication were truly inspiring. Winner: Jeffrey Alonzo Davis, Denver Region. Jeffrey perfectly embodies our "People-First" culture. While serving as a lead officer in Aurora, he responded to a vehicle collision where he found a driver unconscious and in severe medical distress. He immediately began administering CPR, stabilized the driver, and coordinated with emergency services. His swift, decisive actions directly saved the individual’s life. Since this incident, Jeffrey’s leadership has continued to shine, earning him a promotion to Site Supervisor for a major national account! Second Place was awarded to Daniel Shaw of the Cincinnati Region, and Third Place to Geneva Owens of the Savannah Region. Both were selected for their exceptional vigilance and life-saving interventions during medical emergencies. Congratulations to all our nominees and winners! Three officers in the Newark region were recently recognized for their actions following an incident at a food fulfillment and distribution facility. The team witnessed a domestic disturbance in the facility's parking lot. They intervened immediately, de-escalating the situation and providing the victim, a client employee, with the opportunity to retreat into the building. The intervention was handled with remarkable composure, resolving the conflict professionally and without physical altercation.
