At the Talbot Group, our team member's career development is limitless π we work with our employees to ensure they are constantly learning and developing through both job progression and sponsored higher education π§βπ Person In Charge, Des Flynn sat down with us to talk us through his career path since starting in the Talbot Group in 2015 β¬οΈ βFirstly starting in 2015 as DSW moving to Team Lead 2016. While in this position, I completed with sponsorship of Talbot Group a Bachelor of Arts in Social Care (Disability) .In February 2021 was promoted to PIC of one designated centre and in 2022 I took on another centre. Due to the emergence of organisations such as (HIQA) and regulations including the CORU Code of Professional Practice and Ethics there has evolved an awareness of the need to have professionally trained staff and a requirement to provide continuous professional development. My personal experience in the emergence of the role of PIC has seen a move away from past practices of hiring untrained people as health care assistants to the requirement of a minimum level five for support workers and those with level seven or eight being employed as social care workers and PICβs. The role of the social care worker and PIC is one that needs to be constantly evolving as it should be a role of continuing professional development and meaningful training."
At the end of April, members of the Talbot Group staff came together to raise funds in support of the invaluable work carried out by Acquired Brain Injury Ireland by abseiling down a 190ft descent from the iconic Skyview Tower in Smithfield, Dublin π A huge congratulations to our friends John, Clare, Niamh, Ellen, Conor, Padraig, Cian, Marthinus and Anita π
