We are grateful to Resource Recycling, Inc. for highlighting our Germantown, Wisconsin, recycling facility! We recently upgraded the facility with state-of-the-art technology, which added 20% more capacity. And our work doesn’t stop there. By the end of 2026, we plan to upgrade or build 40 recycling facilities with advanced technology – adding 2.8 million tons of capacity annually and preparing us to meet growing demand for recycled content. Exciting news! WM is breaking ground on two state-of-the-art recycling facilities in Ontario, located in the Region of Waterloo and Greater Napanee. Anticipated to be completed by the end of 2025, these highly automated sites are expected to process approximately 30% of Ontario's "Blue Box" volume through contracts with Circular Materials, who is the common collection system administrator that is responsible for operating the new recycling system for blue box materials in Ontario and a national not-for-profit producer responsibility organization (PRO) that supports producers in meeting their obligations under extended producer responsibility. This investment not only reinforces WM’s and Circular Materials’ commitment to sustainability principles, but also aligns with the Province of Ontario’s Strategy for a Waste-Free Ontario and Made in Ontario Environment Plan.
