What’s on at Walker’s! Apprenticeship success! Liam Paterson, our Apprentice Electrical Engineer, was recently awarded UHI Moray’s Best Practical Stage 1 Electrical Apprentice award, and as a result of the effort he put in to his work and studies, Liam was chosen by UHI Moray’s Electrical Department to compete in the World Skills National Qualifier held in Doncaster last month where he achieved 2nd place. Liam will progress on to compete in the UK final in Manchester next month with hopes to make the UK team heading to Shanghai, China for the World Skills final in 2026. We are very proud of Liam’s accomplishments and look forward to supporting him as he prepares for the next stage. 50th Service Anniversary Last month, we celebrated our Distribution Manager, Brian Shand on his 50th Service Anniversary at Walker’s Shortbread. Brian first started with Walker’s in 1974, when the Company purchased its very first forklift. “In 1975 we were delivering just a few cases to shops across Scotland from John O’Groats to Deeside and down to Gretna Green. Now 50 years later, we are sending over 1000 containers of product a year to more than 100 countries around the world from the Netherlands to New Zealand to New York, amazing!” – Brian Shand Congratulations Brian and thank you for your dedication in making Walker’s Shortbread Scotland at its finest.

Collection to Aberlour available from various Moray locations. We also have a new van running for our Aberlour 1:30pm shift. Supplier Approval Working in partnership with our local community has long been a key component of Walker’s core values. In a recent project with Aberlour Primary school, our Supplier Approval team dusted off their paint brushes and transformed the pupil’s outdoor space. Apprenticeships at Walker’s Apprenticeships with Walker’s focuses on the personal and professional development of young people to equip them with the necessary skills to succeed in the workplace. This week, our current apprentices took part in their first workshop of the 2024 programme focused on engaging with our Company values and ambitions. Our apprentices found it valuable and look forward to progressing in their Finance, Production, IT, HR, and Reception apprenticeships. Baby boxes We have gifted over 130 of our baby boxes to expectant mums working here at Walker’s Shortbread. The cute baby bundle contains clothing, sleep suits, comforter and soft toy, packed perfectly in a beautiful keep-sake box to cherish those precious memories. This is a small but meaningful way we like to show our appreciation at this very special time in our employee’s life. Internal Challenge There are 750 miles between Aberlour, the home of Walker’s Shortbread, and Paris, the host of the 2024 Olympic Games. In teams of 8, our employees have 5 weeks to collectively walk, run, or cycle the miles to bring them the closest to Paris from Aberlour on our leader board. The winning team enjoys lunch out on us. What’s on at Walker’s! New Start ‘Meet and Greet’ We recently invited all our office new starts over the last quarter to Walker’s head office to meet with our Board and Executive Committee. Our new starts valued the opportunity to come together and exchange introductions with the Board and Executive Committee who were keen to welcome everyone to the Company. Our quarterly ‘Meet and Greets’ are a great chance to better connect with colleagues around the business. Service Recognition Last month, we celebrated six of our people for length of service; four for 10 years, and two for 25! We’re proud to have so many of our people reach these milestones with us and value the generations of families who have dedicated hard work and determination to delivering Scotland at its Finest. This year alone, we will celebrate a further six of our people for 40 years of service. Huge congratulations go out to them. Out and about! A good time was had by all at the Taste of Grampian event in Aberdeen’s P&J Live on the 1st June.
